I was just wounder what people thought of the new COT design for NASCAR. Instead of a spoiler, it has a forula type wing in the back. That's right, I said wing!!! The wing looks cool, but it makes the rear of the car have too much downforce. The splitter in the front, does not have enough downforce. I also wanted to know if you think that the first COT race was successful? Do you think that it will be raced full time next Year?

Apparently the drivers aren't that impressed.

The cars, from the way that Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon have said, it sucks according to them. This is because they don't have as much downforce of the rear of the car as they do with the current car. Plus, the splitter on the front of the cars makes the cars more prone to hitting the bumps at rougher tracks like Martinsville or Darlington. Even though the races with those cars have had some helluva good time racing.

I don't get the fact that Kyle busch hates the car and won the first COT race at Bristol. Even DW and the other commntators are confused about that.

The fact of the matter is that most of the drivers hate the COT Car. Another fact is that it has provided for some great racing.

I just can't wait until they take the thing to Talladega in the fall.

I too want to see how it will race at Talladega!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, the cup cars are now slower then the Busch cars. But that doesn't bother me. I want close racing. Especially at Talladega!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have 2 guesses, people hate the COT design, or maybe they hate NASCAR. Which one is it?

Something tells me that this isn't a very popular topic.

I just love to talk to myself. Anyway, do you think that the Hendrick dominance will end at Darlington?

I'll join in. I hate to see a decent thread tank. I think they're goin full time with it next year. It seems as though the front suspension is the big drawback. They lost 50% of the travel in there. Apparantly the cars won't turn. It seems as though Hendrick is dominating because they've tested the COT like 100 times, compared to everybody else's 10 times. Darlington got rained out tonight so tomorrow should be interesting for a few reasons. First and foremost; it's the hardest track to drive. Secondly, the race will be in the sun instead of at night. They all set-up there cars for a night race. And third, the cars aren't turning. Wider cars on a skinny track won't help either. It should be a crash-fest. I can't wait til tomorrow!!

Thanks for joining in. Anyway, Jeff Gordon just won at Darlington, spo this means that Hendricks dominance of the COT has not ended just quite yet.

Yeah that sucks. Hatin it! :bnghd: We'll have to see how things pan out in Talladega in Oct. That's the one that I'm really looking forward to.

I'm worried about the COT at Talladega. There is not enough downforce in the front of the car, so this could make for some exciting racing. The race at Talladega will be like it was in the 60's to 80's. Expect a lot of lead changes.

Lots of different scenarios could play out at Talladega. Probably ones that no one has even thought of yet. As far as lead changes goes, they already have a gazillion of'em because of the draft. One thing's for sure, I CAN"T WAIT! Oh yeah, how about the shaft that Eury and Jr got with the HUGE penalty?! Holy crap! Methinks they got the sh^t end of the stick there.
They're just brackets! WTF?! NASCAR has gotten carried away with the penalties. The grey areas should be allowed to be exploited. Innovation is being stymied. Competion is driven by innovation. I mean for real! Richard Petty once used his roll cage to hold extra fuel. Maybe that was going a little too far, sheer genius, but too far. But wing brackets? Please.

What was his penalty? Anyway, I don't think that NASCAR has gotten away with penalties. I don't know waht Jr.'s penalty was, so I can't say if it was just or not. The Michael Waltrip penalty at Daytona was just. I'm going to start another NASCAR thread about the penalties of NASCAR. I might just let it play out here for a while.
