admriker.. thats horrible.

I would say, how could someone treat someone demonstrating like that..

But then I just remembered the fight I got into 2 years ago outside a baseball stadium when some hippies where protesting the war, the where thrusting flyers into a mothers hands when she had both hands around her baby, started yelling at them, they called her all kinds of names and.. like flies on sh@% I and about 4 others where on that hippie and gave him a lesson on why you shouldn't harass people who don't want to be bothered.

The other hippies (about 30?) threw paper and water bottles at us, and the police. I wonder now though, isn't that littering. Silly hippies.

Anyways, the mentality you experienced is the conditioning ..... by I don't know who.. with conspiracies you usually say the NWO! or NEOCONS!!!! ...... but this is defently NOT a conservative agenda. SO .. I will say, conditioning by "those that be" that there is no national, ethnic nor cultural identity. "we are all equal" regardless of national origin. Maybe, but nations don't survive on such simplistic thought processes.

This is the decline of America, nations culturally divided fall.

PS. I am never buying a Ford EVER, look at the sticker in the window, you will see like 70%+ built in MEXICO... (and they are coming here to work
) ... and Chevy (aside from being absolute crap) I will never buy because GM is consistantly moving jobs out of the country. American cars are FORIEGN cars.

Buy Honda, or Toyota, and growing Nissan, Hyundai. Honda and Toyota, if the corporate HQ was in America and we got the taxes, would be domestic cars... something like 60-70% built and assembled in AMERICA. complete opposite of Ford and GM.

Has there been any new information about this?

I keep up on some of the news websites, but as of yet, I've not seen anything.

actually yes there is news on this. it appears the law has gotten involved in trying to shut it down.

We have also heard from a large convoy of protesting trucker that were coming into the beltway from the north, that the police were out in force up there too, pulling the truckers over and giving tickets to everyone participating in the convoy. We have heard this from all over the nation, same thing. So far we have heard from about 70+ truckers that got tickets, all over the US, for trying to participate in the slow roll around a capitol, or on the freeways.

We may have been thwarted this time, but we are not through. We are now regrouping, and planning our second run at this for June, 14, 15, 16, but this time we will be far more organized and have a contact person in every state, organizing the truckers in that state.

America, home of the not-so-free and land of facism.

Lets see, police not allowing truckers to drive on a PUBLIC highway that was payed for by american tax dollars. And giving out tickets to truckers for using their constitutionally protected right to protest.

Yep, thats called facism.

Someone should sue the pants off these cops. They cant deny a vehicle access to any highway unless there is an emergency.

Thanks Glyph_D!

I'm gonna be keeping up on this, and waiting to see how it will turn out when they do this again in June.

I retired from the Canadian Transport industry about 16 years ago, I got tired with red tap, and running two log books to make a living.

I for one support the Truckers of America in there cause.

speaking of backfiring, when the american people start to suffer, and they are so spoiled in having it all, there will be an uprising and hear comes marshall law.

when the american people start realizing they have to do without tantrums like the US has never seen will ensue. we are such a spoiled nation.

Here are a few updates. With budgets already stretched to the limit how does the government expect people to cope. America needs to get her priorites in order. Perhaps the government needs a suggestion box.

UPDATE 2-US truckers disrupt traffic to protest fuel prices
Tue Apr 1, 2008 11:08pm BST

(from page 3)

Mike Schermoly, a spokesman for OOIDA, warned that without help easing the strain of high fuel costs on the trucking industry, prices of groceries and other goods could rise.

Truck Drivers Threaten to Strike April 3
CHATHAM COUNTY, GA (WTOC) - Rising gas prices are something we're all dealing with, but if you think filling your gas tank is hard, try paying more around $4 a gallon to a fill a 100-plus gallon tank.

TRUCKERS TO STRIKE OVER RECORD DIESEL PRICES, SOME PAYING UP TO $1,200 TO FILL-UP
Tuesday, April 01, 2008

Many truckers are spreading word of a strike through Internet blogs and over their CB radios, encouraging everyone to put their trucks in park in order to send the message to U.S. oil companies and the federal government.

---

Diesel this week was at an average of more than $4 a gallon in Oregon and Washington and nearly $4.12 in California, according to the American Trucking Association. If a trucker is filling up a 300-gallon semi, that bill could top $1,200.

Here in Knoxville, on the I-640 bypass, you could see a line of truckers just parked on the freeway.

It was an amazing site to see them all just sitting there.

The grocery stores I deal with have their own trucking company, the problem being independent truck drivers are usually non union, and have no wages to fall back on,so what will happen is if someone turns down the freight there will be another truck from the south or mid west stuck here, and they will take the freight to get back home, being self employed is a cut throat buisness, most have family's to support so I think if there is a strike might last a day or 2,when push comes to shove money will rule just my thought

Here's something I found about the strike being by the CB guys????

Whoa, hold on a second. The OP was in April 2007, and referring to April 23,24 and 25 as the strike dates. Um, am I completely missing something here??
