There is an official post from NASA about MGS. TElling that their was a batttery failure due to a human error a couple of month before... Do you think that is true? Is an error 5 that happen 5 month before could cause the lost of MGS?

I believe the article states that the human error that occurred 5 months ago caused the batteries to fail in as little as 11 hours after the error and they have had no contact since. The 5 months that you mentioned was not the time it took for the spacecraft to fail after the error, but the time it took to do the investigation.

MGS was in orbit taking pictures for over 9 years -- 4 times longer than expected. I don't see anything sinister happening here.

The following thread was created when the MGS originally started having
problems, and has been updated when news about it has been released.
