Why is my girlfriend so dumb?

She is putting on an act. Just wants to be ditzy for a while in life. 23 is still prettty young. If she keeps at it till she's 33, then she has a problem. Let her be. she loves the attention, the kind she's looking for. Some people have different ways of commanding attention. Unfortunately, you may have to snap her out of it or get out of it.

Listen, Auss-boy, it doesn't make any difference if she is putting on an act, has neurological problems or is really just that darned stupid. The fact of the matter is you must get shed of that girl before she drives you over the edge. Girls may come and girls may go, but you have only so much sanity! It sounds as if you are describing a girl I dated for a while. The sanity she stole from me can never be replaced!

Reminds me of my causin. She is almost stupid like that.. luckily she grown up house next to mine so every time she would say something dumb I would scream and corrected her. She is also good with communicating... Which is IMHO useless.
I guess some people have different parts of brain more developed.

Well, she may have a genuinely defective memory. The things you mentioned all rely on memory. Whereas other skills in which she excels, such as dancing, is more in repetitious muscle movement. (this is also why dumb receptionists can still be fast typists... )

I'm assuming a combination of two factors here.... One, is that her synapses are having trouble connecting, resulting in poor long and short term memory. Two, that this problem likely caused her to not be able to learn much in school, and get frustrated.

I'm also assuming, that since you've been together for 3 years, that you do love her, but are both curious and frustrated as to this perceived lack of intelligence. One thing I can think of is Ginkoba. It's a supplement that helps some people with memory problems. There are likely prescription drugs available as well, but that would require a trip to a neurologist. This won't make her an Einstein, but it may help her to retain memory, and thus improve her ability to learn and retain information....and eventually, she'll at least be less annoying to you....

A few thoughts, firstly one to Britman, where on Earth does a Pom get the idea he could bash Aussie chicks?

Secondly to my Sandgroper comrade. It doesn't seem to be any lack of intelligence. But perhaps a lack of exposure to many of those things. I take it she'd much rather watch Temptation Island than the News, things like that? She is what she is, if you have the balls to raise this issue with her you could try, or you could just make sure you take charge of the Remote Control, and make her watch more SBS and ABC

Not about my girlfriend but nearly girlfriend. 2 years ago:

We have been very good friends for a year and then it started with holding hands(uhuuuu romantic, really) while she still had a friend. But this wanker was cheating on her and treated her very bad - which was very dumb as she is really one of the cutest and hottest girls in town + with a good character.

Unfortunetlay she isn't the most intelligent one. So she noticed he cheated on her, she left him but in the end returned to him. Guess what? He cheated on her again..uhuu...and best girlfriend of her always were for me and other friends were as well as I am no asshole and she just likes me.
The funny thing was that she didnt love him as she told me and her best friend but she always turned back to him. But in so dumb behaviour argh.

But a cuty. What a pitty.

I agree most with this viewpoint.

Fortunately for you the world seems to more highly value people of this orientation these days. Witness current youth culture in the developed world. Your greatest problem will be having to provide most of the intellectual currency in a permanent relationship (do they still have these today?). Otherwise take it for what it is, maybe she is psychic or something too.

JFetch, you are right, she is always talking. I just don't think she absorbs anything. There is nothing mentally wrong. I'd like to know how many other people are like her.
