True, but even british naval staff declared that the line the british say they wernt stepping over, DOESNT exist.

You cannot say who was where in this case.

Neither side has proven IF they were in Iranian or Iraqi waters.

The GPS devices would show exactly where the craft were and the coordinates are right there I already have shown how it is done. Take the coordinates and mark each one on a map then draw a line and presto you know exactly where they are overlay the coordinates of the boundary and there is no dispute.

As for what was allegedly said by a British officer that is up in the air a reporter reported it yes, but that does not make it true because reporters are humans and subject to misquoting.

I suppose this isn't much, but fear exists that the broadcast of a controversial documentary on BBC 4 about Brits in Iraq would damage the delicate situation in Iran.

The fathers of two of the Royal Naval captives held in Iran have appealed to Channel 4 to postpone the screening this week of a controversial drama about British troops abusing Iraqi captives.

In his first public comments, Robin Air, whose son Chris, 25, was paraded on Iranian television on Sunday "apologising" to his captors, told The Daily Telegraph he feared that delicate negotiations to free the Naval personnel could be wrecked by Thursday's "reckless" broadcast of The Mark of Cain.

Roy Summers, whose son Nathan, 21, a Navy crewman from Hayle, Cornwall, was also shown on Iranian television last week, said he feared the timing of the screening could "inflame the situation".

Cool beans.
I'm glad the prisoners are getting released.
I guess the bush-blair swinger-orgy will have to find another way to invade the middle east. And i love how the mass media is saying that no official exchange took place to facilitate the release of prisoners (Jamie something, former sec. of state) stated those exact words on cnn about 15 minutes ago.

YEAH RIGHT! This guy says the release was already in the works, and the US government just decided to release iranian prisoners as well. Do they REALLY except me to believe that? Drug deals behind the scenes....
Atleast it did get the prisoners released

-- UPDATE -- CNN just said the Iranian President is giving the prisoners Amnesty (contrary to a pardon, which was stated earlier) as a gift to the UK. Amnesty is a bit different than a pardon no?

Syria claims role in the release:

Syria: We Helped in Iran-Britain Dispute

DAMASCUS, Syria -- Syria played a key role in resolving the standoff over the 15 British sailors and marines held by Iran, two government officials said Wednesday.

"Syrian efforts and the Iranian willingness culminated with the release of the British sailors," said Information Minister Mohsen Bilal.

He said Syria had been asked "to help positively in the issue of British" crew members since their March 23 seizure by Iran in the Persian Gulf.

Did anyone else here notice the irony in the part of his speach about womens rights?

Ahmadinejad felt compelled to lecture the West on gender sensitivity, asking why the UK would send Faye Turney, a mother, on such a compromising mission. “Why don't they respect the values of families in the West?” he asked. “Why is there no respect for motherhood, affection?”

His remarks come one month after a few dozen Iranian women were arrested and/or beaten while peacefully assembling against laws which, among other things, permit stoning women to death if they are convicted of adultery and deny women equal rights in divorce, custody and inheritance. I’m sure the double standard was lost on him.

It was a stage attack on Western values and regarding Tony Blair in the United Kingdom. He was trying to play on public opinion on Blair, which you could argue hasn't really had an effect.

Tony Blair is an asshat anyway and should be tried for treason along with Bush for the numerous crimes they are into.

And the sailors were captured inside iranian waters period, look at the GPS data, it's a disputed area, so it belongs to the two, so you have to look if they were nearer the iranian land or iraqi land and they were closer to iranian land.

Anyway, it's good that it finished like that. Hope they don't invade or if they invade, they stage something so obvious it's them that people won't buy it and overthrow the government.

The sailors were illegally kidnapped and they were NOT in Iranian waters. Period.

Even the Iranians said so the first few days before they went ... 'oops, we mean they were in our waters'.

So if your theory is true, when I walk past private property can I be arrested for trespassing even when I am not on that land?

Iran got all it could out of the issue with their domestic base and it was beginning to really hurt them internationally.

I'm glad they had the sense to quit when they did before it got out of control.

While I agree with you Magic I see more to it, this is a clear example of showing to the rest of the world who relay is civilized and who is clearly not. . .

This is a slap in the face of the so call modernized and pro human right nations spreading democracy around through wars.

I knew that the prisoners were going to be released with no a single hair in their head damage.

They were well taken care off, feed and pamper. . .

Now they want to see the US Iranian captive taken by US in Iraq . . . but I bet you this . . . they are probably taken into a special holding facility and torture at will.

See how the world will take this Iranian show of goodwill . . .compare to what has been done to prisoners since the Iraqi invasion started.

Iran played its cards well, because is not about what the UK or US leaders thinks is about what the population of our nations feel and the rest of the world.

FOXNews were talking about the political scene in Iran.

Lets just say that the Iranian people do not support their President. Many feel that his handline approach has hurt many of them and the economy.

I see no goodwill.

The sailors never should have been illegally kidnapped to begin with.
They were NOT in Iranian waters. They did nothing wrong.
The only reason they are being released is because Iran can't get
anything more out of the situation.

This isn't goodwill. It's a matter of them having squeezed all the juice out of the stolen lemon and there isn't anymore to make lemonaide with. They are simply tossing out the used up rind.

I have said it before and I'll say it again (I'm sure ya'll are tired of hearing it). Change in Iran will come from within. We have no need to attack. We have no need to do much of anything except support the youth of the country who want their MTV and blue jeans ... and who do not want the Imams.

Everyone want to avoid war? Send boxes full of blue jeans and Nickleback CDs to the under-30 crowd in Iran! It'll be the cheapest and most fun war ever 'fought'.

Occurs I differ from you with all the amount of information on what is or not, is nothing personal just a matter of opinion and interpretation of the facts shown.

One thing is for sure, the well being of the UK prisoners was a very regarded priority by the Iranians, something that we can not say when it comes to US treatment of prisioners.
