Option, do what we did in Korea, Japan and Germany. When the US wins the war, occupy the country. It is the only why to maintain the peace and give stability. There ain't been any wars in Korea Japan or Germany since US occupation. We did things wrong in 'Nam and Somalia so we had better not mess up in Iraq.

Times have changed from the 40's and 50's. The art of war has changed drastically. No more conventional stuff with tanks and SP artillery rolling across the plains of Europe and Korea. In Iraq it's a classic LICO (Low Intensity Conflict Operations) scenario. Counter insurgency/guerrilla/spec ops.

You're up against an unseen enemy. And a hostile local Muslim population which wants all foreign troops out of Iraq.

Will it ever win the 'war' in Iraq?? Shades of 'Nam here. The US of A can win a conventional war, but this is a different ball game altogether! Five years on and things are getting from bad to real bad. Enforcing and maintaining peace and stability is a mirage. And that's what they're trying their darnedest to do but are up sh*t creek without a paddle!!
