This may sound ridiculous to some, but please hear me out.

In World War 2, Hitler invaded Czechislovakia to obtain 'Lebensraum' (living space) for the German people. He was willing to go to war with the whole world for it.

Dolphins are one of the most intelligent creatures on this planet, and with the advent of humans poisoning the oceans we're seeing what is actually an attempt by the dolphins for Lebensraum.

In order to create this space, the dolphins are being forced to melt the ice in the polar icecaps by congregating there and using their heat to melt them.

It makes perfect sense, as how else would they get extra space.

Please, your thoughts.

So the dolphines organized themselves into a congregation, and came up with the plan to get more space by melting ice. well first off, dolphines may be smart, but im sure they have no concept of science (ie ice is frozen water, or heat+ice=water=living space.) Im afraid that shows deductive reasonsing beyond a dolphines capacity.

EDIT to add: hitler didnt go to war because of living space, he went to war largely because imperial desires at the behest of big business.

With all due respect, it does sound fairly ridiculous.

First, you're assuming that the dolphins (granting for the sake of discussion that they really are as intelligent as we think) have made the intellectual leap that 'flooding = more living space for us', as well as the social leap from a 'pod' organization of a few (or a few dozen) members to a 'dolphin nation' that includes most of the dolphins (if not all) on the planet.

Given that those things have taken place, there are still a lot of problems. I'll toss two of them out for you, just to get the discussion going.

1) How are the dolphins planning to generate all the heat they'll need to melt the ice caps? Body heat alone won't do it. In polar waters, it's taxing enough for a body to maintain itself at a working temperature, never mind radiating enough heat to make an impact on water or ice temperature.

2) Melting the north polar ice (since the dolphins don't, as far as we know, have 'space capsules' that will let them trundle over the sout polar ice, that's the only ice cap they have access to) could actually lower worldwide sea levels slightly, since the ice is displacing water in order to float. Melt the ice, and the water level will actually drop. If you want proof, put some ice cubes in a glass. Fill with water. Watch water level as the ice cubes melt.
