David Hicks set to confess to Terror Crimes!

David Hicks is expected to reveal his connections to the terror network al-Qaeda when he fronts a US military tribunal in Guantanamo Bay tonight.

In order to back up his guilty plea, Hicks will have to tell the tribunal under oath exactly how he provided material support to terrorism.

Personally, I'm glad he's taking responsibility to what he's done in the past, it's one step closer to being returned home to Australia.
I think Hicks' sentence will be less than 20 years in jail, because of the time he spent in Guantanamo Bay.

It's good to see that this case is finally seeing some resolution.
I can only imagine that the very long time frame is the reason very few have expressed an interest in this event.


To recap, from what little I know, Hicks has been at Gitmo since 2001 and was held for some time without being charged.
He was finally charged in 2004 with a crime that did not exist until after his detainment.

Front page today says he's pleaded, and he's getting 7yrs.
Is that 7 minus the 5 served? or 12, minus the 5 served?
I think its very, very handy that this has all wound its self up 'so' quickly with the upcoming elections.

Hicks pleaded guilty, and declared that the Prosecution CAN prove without a doubt he was guilty.

If this was true, why couldnt he be tried, from the begining ?
Seems forced confessions/plea's are the fad at the moment..
Just how do you prove beyond a doubt, that he was part of the taliban?

From what I was told by a friend who is Australian, the law he was charged with was written after he was arrested.
Like three years later.
Of course, that doesn't explan why it took all this time to det to today.

I do agree it is mighty convenient with the election coming up.
Seems Howard's not doing so well in the polls, eh?

Just wondering, buy why was MadHatt3r banned? He was a friend of mine and I want to know the reason.
