my friends were talking about them the other day and seemed really creeped out by them but wouldn't explain to me what they were....

Will anyone care to explain?

Just the name of them creeps me out to be honest! Here's what wikipedia has to say....

A skin-walker is a person with the supernatural ability to turn into any animal he or she desires, generally in a Native American context. Similar creatures can be found in numerous cultures' lores all over the world, closely related to beliefs in werewolves and other "were" creatures or lycanthropes. The Mohawk Indian word "limikkin" is sometimes used to describe all skin-walkers. It is also known as the Yenaldooshi.

skinwalkers also known as witches. they are people that have the abilitie to shapshift into animals mostly coyotes or wolves. they witch people and mostly like to see people frightened. my grandparents who are navajo said that they can only become skinwalkers if they kill one of there siblings. its evil that gives them power and demons.

Incase you're interested...

There's a ranch in Utah where there's a lot of paranormal activity, and there's a book about it now called "Hunt for the Skinwalker". From their site there are links, one of which leads to a site where you can listen to a radio show they did about this ranch. It's really interesting.
