Ooooh!!! Don't drop it!!!

He he, yeah someone sent these pics to me a while back. They show how what they do there is not as easy as you might think.

I guess they had to postpone the next launch due to the external tank being damaged by hail. I think the next launch will be in June.

What would happen if this was to sudenly fall and it hit the ground?

That could be described in on word..........kaboom! While the fuel used for the space shuttle is more stable than gasoline, it is still highly flammable.

Yeah, but they don't fill it up with fuel until it is on the launch pad, so I don't think it would explode. If they dropped it, it would probably put a good dent in it.

It is absolutely amazing how they've come up with this program I mean look at the detail of the extraordinary enginuity put into it. The engines on that thing absolutely make no sense to me, but that every part has a purpose...

It would almost definately be destroyed if they dropped it. Especially from that height. As HAL said, they only fuel it on the pad, so there wouldn't be risk of explosion, but at the very least, you're looking at major damage.

Oh, right............what was I thinking?
I always get ahead of myself. Yes it would definately end up being scrap metal, just think about the damage to the bulding it is in!

I always thought the white on it and the window looking part was real.

Doesn't appear to be as easy as packing a few suitcases and throwing them into the trunk of your car.

I also did not know they loaded the payload after the shuttle was on the launch pad...that was something new to me.
