I know it would cost a lot in the beginning, but I am surprised Corporations have not invested more time and effort in space exploration, mining, tourism, etc.

Transformational Space Corp. will be the most efficient provider of passenger and cargo transportation to low Earth orbit, starting in 2011. Its system of air-launched and piloted spacecraft will serve NASA, U.S. Defense agencies, other nations interested in space, corporations seeking space environments, and the space tourism industry.
