Online skating forums in Australia and overseas are rife with speculation over the death of skateboarding star and murder suspect Ben Pappas.

Police recovered Pappas's weighed-down body from water off Victoria Pier at Melbourne's Docklands on Saturday.

The death of another champion skateboarder, Shane Cross, in a motorcycle accident last week had already left Melbourne's skating subculture reeling.

I have met Ben and Shane a few times, they were nice guys and will be missed.
It's strange that two of Australia's best skaters have died in the same week, in the same city, both in suspicious circumstances.
