MOST Iraqis believe life is better for them now than it was under Saddam Hussein, according to a British opinion poll published today.

The survey of more than 5,000 Iraqis found the majority optimistic despite their suffering in sectarian violence since the American-led invasion four years ago this week.

They are still having problems but things are looking up. Why those polled don't thing there is a civil war, wow! How dare they to go against the US News Media!

how can life be better?
these days when Iraqis go out in the street/mosque/church/shopping and so forth they dont know if they will be blown sky high by a terrorist.

how does that make life better after saddam?

How can WE argue this?

If they think it is better, who would know better than they?

I guess there will always be someone that thinks they know what is better for someone than that person does...

lol they askd roughly 5,000 people who will obviously give a biased responce and they are taking the biased opinion of 5,000 iraqis to mean "most iraqis" 5,000 isnt "most iraqis" when the population is somewhere around 30 million.

The poll is bull#.

All polls are done on a group of people who's responses are used as a basis for the rest of the population. Every poll you see is done that way. When have you ever seen a poll in which every single person in said country was interviewed? It's a waste of time. 5,000 people are enough to gauge what the broader response would be.

5000 is a pretty large polling group considering a lot of US polls are done with only 1000 respondents. So we can believe things are better now and also according to the poll "More than half say security will improve after a withdrawal of multinational forces."

Sounds like it's time to leave. No?

John Howard mentioned this tonight on the 730 report..
and made sure he noted that it wasnt a government backed poll.. merely a civilian poll..

so theres no telling who they approached to ask for starters.

and how can you say Iraq is better?

I saw an interview with an iraqi, who said simply
'' In Saddams day, you knew where the line was.. you could get through life with no hassles if you stuck to the rules, where as today?.. you can be murdered just for going to your universtiy..''

Our national news media would have us believing what? I've said it a hundred times " the news media is not our friend".

"I saw an interview with an Iraqi, who said simply
'' In Saddam's day, you knew where the line was.. you could get through life with no hassles if you stuck to the rules, where as today?.. you can be murdered just for going to your university..''

Maybe freedom or the chance of freedom means more to the Iraqi's.

Thats strange, the Guardian says otherwise:

www.guardian.co.uk...
According to an opinion poll of 5,000 Iraqis carried out over the past month, 49% say they are better off now than under Saddam, and 26% say life was better under Saddam. More than one in four said they had had a close relative murdered in the past three years.

By their figures, thats most Iraqi's don't think they're better off now than with Saddam

The fact is any poll being conducted by any PR or market research firm, and thats what the Opinion Research Business are btw, a market research firm is going to be extremely biased in their findings. Wether this is intential or not doesnt matter because they didnt just do this for no reason at all, somebody with an agenda highered them. Theres also the fact if a company like this is heading of to Iraq, where exactly do you think they will be conducting this poll?, they will have military escorts and conduct this poll in the most neutral territorys they can, neutral as in areas deemd friendly to U.S invasion forces, id very much doubt if they even left any coalition military base when conducting this. For all anyone knows this "poll" was conducted with 5,000 people from the U.S friendly Iraqi Army it certainly isnt going to be from a mixture of people from U.S prison camps or dangerous no go areas notorious for violence and anti U.S sentiment. So really, can people just accept that polls like this in reality prove nothing what so ever, especialy after there is conflicting reports of its publishd findings.

Oh yes id also be happy to actually debate with anyone wether or not life in Iraq was better under Saddam PRE-U.N sanctions as apposed to now.

Of course the poll is not correct...

Of course the numbers are wrong...

It just can't be correct, and we will make sure that no one believes it, no matter what we have to fabricate to do it...
