Wow... so you have a 22mbps download line and you are capped at 30 gigs a month? I only have a 5mbps line and am capped at 70 gigs a month. How do you not go over your limit? hahaah. I would loooooove to have a 22mbps line!

I'm about an hour and a half from Melbourne (city)

I'm pretty sure I won't get the full 24mbs downstream, if I can get 15 or 16 I'll be happy.

I've learned to stay away from those sites that have pretty ladies
So I don't trip the slow down anymore I just use a rule:

20% = for what you need
60% = dl's
20% = spare*

*spare gets used the night before cap

so I use it all.

Im with TPGi, so the money is along with mum's (US - mom's) credit card details is somewhere in the Philippines by now

Connection is cool but service is pretty average, their status & proxies are never updated promptly so I use telstra's proxies

Im in Sydney metro/city 20min to CBD.

phone line is old as well so I am suprised at the speed I get.

It seems internode is the best, looking at whirlpool.net.au.

Madhatter you will probably be surprised. If your phone line infrastructure was put in recently (like in the last 2 decades) it will prob be good. And depends on were your exchange is.

Use a compliance filter like telequip and you will probably be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks Selmer2 I think from the actual exchange to here is around the
3km mark and I've downloaded at 700k from certain test mirrors.
So hopefully when ADSL 2+ does come to my smallish town the speed will be good.
