Back in the mid- to late 1940's, we lived about a mile and a half from Lockheed Airport and the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation manufacturing plant in Burbank, CA. I remember distinctly the flying wings that flew over our house just after WW2. My cousin and I stood awestruck whenever we saw one of these things overhead. Mind you, they were pretty low because we lived so close to the runway. They always facinated me and I wondered what happened to them. I'm not sure, I was such a young kid at the time, but I think I heard they were pretty troublesome to fly or something.
