Hi all,

I did some work on a DoD base a little south of Elizabeth City, NC. At the time, I was working in the construction industry. My company was a concrete sawing and cutting company that had a lot of contracts with the Government. I've worked extensively on repairing runways and airport hanger aprons.

Last year, during my Christmas break, I decided to get some more hours with my company. We had a contract to go to a secret DoD base that some locals never even knew about. I took a picture with my camera phone of the entrence, and was smart enough to keep my phone out of the eye of the heavily armed guards. Too make a long story short, we were escorted by unmarked cars to a location that had a recently finished run way, which later I learned, the crew that repaved the runway worked night and day for three weeks to finish it. My company's contract was to repair the hanger apron. It was badly damaged, it took about two weeks over to completely seal, using a silicone based sealant with backer-rod. The location of the hanger was on the edge of a river, and about a mile away one could see the other side. There were houses there, which i later learned, were all occupied by employees of the base.

I don't have exact dimensions of the hanger, but it appeared to be large enough to house a large commercial liner jet. Smaller than a 747. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone knew about this base. I will look through my camera phone to see if I can find the picture of the entrence and I will let you all know the name.

Also, while i was working, I would hear explosions off in the distance, like it was ordenance testing.

There was a thread on this a few years back that went a few pages.

Its officially called the "Harvey Point Defense Testing Activity", masked at one time at least as a Navy depot or something, not sure if they keep up that charade anymore. What it is, is a CIA counterterrorism training base, elite paramilitary groups from around the world have trained there. The demolitions can be felt in edenton; basically nothing special, just a base hidden for a decent reason. look it up on the internet, plenty of info on it.

Yeah! Harvey Point! Thanks for the info. I can't find all the pictures i took on my cell phone prior to going through the gate. I think I might have possibly deleted them without thinking about it.
