There's one problem not addressed in that article. We live in a relativly quiet section of the universe. If these planets do somehow manage to form
in the non-outter arm of a spiral galaxy, they'll be pummeled by debris, preventing life from getting a foothold.
You also have to ask yourself, is intelligence a common evolutionary process, or uncommon? There might be many worlds capable of sustaining what we
percieve as life, but would they be capable of leaving their planet?
Also, articles like this one have been appearing for a while. I doubt the media is getting us ready for the great exposure. If the media knew about
it, it would have already been leaked to the folks of this world.
