CAIRO, Egypt — The Al Qaeda-affiliated group Islamic State of Iraq posted an online video Saturday of the execution of 18 Iraqi security troops, shot in the back of their heads while kneeling in a field.
The three-minute video, posted on a Web site previously used by the Islamists, said the 18 kidnapped government security forces were slain in retaliation for the alleged rape of a Sunni woman by members of the Shiite-dominated police. The video's authenticity could not be immediately verified

Here are some related threads:

Later in this thread there are some links to one somewhat well publicised rape case, the case in the second thread:
Iraqi women to hang for acts of resistance!

This is the real danger in iraq right now, the public can't rely on the central government to protect them, and indeed the central government forces are nothing more than thugs, so they turn to extra-governmental groups for protection, posses, and the like. This, indeed, is what lead to the formation of the mafia, civil unrest in the island of sicily, where people started going to power structures outside of the government.

Maliki is perhap slitted his own throat when he 'rewarded' (because he beleived they were innocent) the accused soldiers in the rape case.

Also, notice what we have. The US invaded Iraq because of the war on terror, its been a debacle, because of the fighting of insurgent forces. Now al-Qaida, or at least an allied group as they themselves claim, is serving as security and a court for the people of that area.
Bin Ladin couldn't've hoped to invade and overthrow iraq (and he wanted, recall, to drive hussein out of kuwait in Gulf 1 with jihadis), to overthrow its military. BUt we've removed that military. We may've handed iraq over to his network in doing this.

So the CIA released the tape... To further help the civil war. Great.
