Not 6 moths..

Youll be doing 362..

Its the only real way..

Or more!

Also Jetsetter,

Nice looking work there..

Just lose the xtra N on Finland..

And also,

You put XM8 to there..

Then you also must put AN-94 and 7,62 RK 95 and Tavor family..

Otherwise, this is biased!

So, what do you guys think of the M-14. I like it. I believe that it is still used by the Navy SEALS.

I thought they used the M4 because of its smaller frame and the fact its compatible with accessories designed for the M16/AR15 series of weapons?

Actually they use that also. They still make the M-14 and I believe that they use them because of there large caliber(7.62mm)

Development of the 90 series of weapons came as a result of the Finnish military desiring an even tougher weapon. Model 62 milled receiver and Model 76 sheet metal receiver guns were in service with the Finnish military at this time. The SAKO 90 series replaces both the 62 and 76 series. The SAKO 90 series returns to the the milled receiver gun.

We received several rather humorous e-mails regarding the toughness. All Valmet weapons are as tough as nails. Comparing a Valmet to an original Soviet AKM will show you the gun is much higher quality and tougher than anyone can imagine needing.

My 2 cents..

Best Assault rifle around that uses AK mechanism..

And i think that this counts for something..

Even Israeli Galil is copy (made by licence..) of the older variant of this weapon..

Very impressive. Also, I believe that the Navy SEALs use the M-14 as a sniper rifle. I still think it is one of the best assault rifles in the world.

Its good as semi automatic long range rifle, as is SVD Dragunov also.. neither of these is 'sniper rifle'..

But as for use as a Assault Rifle, these dont just have it..

They cant do accurate Burts fire..

And only SVU-A Bullpup version of the SVD capable to automatic fire.. (burst..)

They use much too powerful ammo to be effective as assault weapons.

Steyr Stg.77 AUG assault rifle (Austria)
It looks nice but it's an old model, today it has a reputation of a good weapon, but there are better ones out there. Considered the first bullpup design, this is wrong of course. Also, it is said that it's bullpup design puts it ahead from the others, which also in pure bull#.

FN FNC assault rifle (Belgium)
We know FN for it's quality, this is a great weapon, though FN is releasing their new line of compact, modular weapons.

Valmet Rk. 62 / 76 / 95 (Finnland)
Not widely used, but continuous use of it in nordic countries confirms its quality.

Heckler-Koch HK G36 assault rifle (Germany)
HK weapons are purely perfect. I think this one is the best of the given.

Enfield SA-80: L85A1 and L85A2 assault rifle (Great Britain)
L85A1 shouldn't be here. It is nothing compared with the rest.
L85A2 is a fine weapon, but it's predecessor left a "scar" on this one.
And it's cool look means nothing...

GIAT FAMAS assault rifle (France)
G2 is a fine and reliable weapon, and a good example of how bullpup should be done.

Kalashnikov AK-74, AKS-74 and AK-74M assault rifles (USSR / Russia)
Should be soon replaced. Still reliable (most reliable of those) and accurate.

SIG SG-550 SG-551 SG-552 Stgw.90 (Switzerland)
Fine, swiss work. But seems it is less reliable than the rest.

Armalite / Colt AR-15 / M16 assault rifle (USA)
A great, reliable (but less reliable than the AKMs), extremely accurate. But will be replaced with M8...

M14 (USA)
A great weapon. Not used widely today, still it's accuracy and reliability are legendary.

XM8 Lightweight Assault Rifle (USA)
We will see what this is... based on G36, it must be good. But the looks...

Nikonov AN-94 "Abakan" assault rifle (Russia)
I read about bad economics. The 2-round burst sounds very interesting. A new model, still to evolve, and very promising.

IMI Tavor TAR-21 assault rifle (Israel)
There has already Tavor2 been released. Looks fine, and must be better than Galil!

"Groza" OC-14 (Russia)
A class of itself. A great weapon, but not for wide usage.
SP-6 bullets
love these

I don't know how true this is but here's an interesting fact I found at a website (it's in Finnish so here's translation):

The weapon [RK-95] is extremely realiable. It can be buried in sand, frozen to -40 celcius or even heated to very hot temperatures and it will still work.

These things fall in to the class 'dont do with any weapon that isnt a AK type..'

Better yet: 'dont do with any weapon that isnt of the AK type and build in Finland!'

*Edit*

These weapons work in -40 c without any problems..
(Ive actually [been forced] fired these weapons in -35/37c.. and it worked just like in the summer.. but i didnt..
)

Other weapons will shatter to pieces is fired in temperatures this low..

Or more usually they just wont work, the 'moving parts' wont move. As the cold has srunken the metal in non controlled matter..

I prefer the "Stoner" weapons system. No it is not a fully automatic bong.

i've fired the SA80A2 alot, and it really shouldn't be up here next to other rifles. It has a tendancy to jam whilst firing 5 round bursts, and when fighting in FIBUA conditions, where full magazine bursts are required, it fails badly. The bayonet, when attached to the barrel becomes so hot the you cannot remove it (but apart from that, its a pretty good knife)
In cold conditions, the rifle "sticks" so bad, people often have to use a hammer to free working parts. In the sand, the rifle is about as effective as a pea shooter because it jams so much (who saw the pictures of british sqaudies with black plastic bags around thier weapons?
)
The only redeming features i can think of are the SUSAT sight (3x magnification) and the fact that it is very accurate. Apart from these, i wonder why the british army still bothers to us it.

"Stoner production ceased altogether by the end of 1971. Total production for U.S. and foreign users would probably in the 3,500 to 4,000 unit range."
