has anyone noticed how the bible has stolen alot of ideas from other societys and religons
one example is the idea that the seventh circle of hell is guarded by a Minotaur which is just a huge rip off of greek mythology.
satan was invented to spread hate for pagans and they turned a pagan god pan into the devil.
it just seems to me like christianity is the most unoriginal idea possible

Thanks for that penetrating and insightful analysis.

No idea where in the Bible it says anyting about circles of hell, or minatours. In fact, yes I do: nowhere. The author and poet, Dante, famously summarised and elaborated on the idea of the circles of hell in his Divine Comedy (which is a work of fiction). He draws upon classical backgrounds (Greek and Roman myths and history) in his work though, which is normal for a product of the early Rensaissance.

Cheers.

Yeah if anything, most religions and other myths were descendants of original biblical scripture.

really?

do you honestly think that the reason buddhism and christianity share ideas is because "jesus" spread influence to india and the eastern asian reasons 300 years before he was supposedly born?

or hinduism, which is quite possibly the world's oldest surviving religion, did judaism influence it?

what about subsaharan religions?

native american ones?

i could keep this on all day

this type of cultural egocentrism is just a tiny bit sad

Well, if the bible "stole" ideas from other cultures, then it was a result of the writer being a member of that other culture and inevitably placing that influence on it, since that culture influences the writer on the most fundamental levels.

I just want to point out that Christianity basically started off as a division of Judaism. Where did you come up with the notion that Pan is how they "created" the image of satan?

Not that I believe Christianity has "stolen" the idea, I personally believe it is Prometheus.

Genesis 3:

4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

www.biblegateway.com...

They then realize they are naked, and their condemnation by God ensues; taking away great privledges and creating several uncomfortable things..

As for Prometheus..

Zeus in his wrath denied men the secret of fire. Prometheus felt sorry for his creations, and watched as they shivered in the cold and winter's nights. He decided to give his most loved creation a great gift that was a "good servant and bad master". He took fire from the hearth of the gods by stealth and brought it to men in a hollow wand of fennel, or ferule that served him instead of a staff. He brought down the fire coal and gave it to man. He then showed them how to cook and stay warm.
en.wikipedia.org...

To punish man for the offenses of Prometheus, Zeus told Hephaestus (Vulcan) to "mingle together all things loveliest, sweetest, and best, but look that you also mingle therewith the opposites of each." So Hephaestus took gold and dross, wax and flint, pure snow and mud of the highways, honey and gall; he took the bloom of the rose and the toad's venom, the voice of laughing water and the peacocks squall; he took the sea's beauty and its treachery, the dog's fidelity and the wind's inconstancy, and the mother bird's heart of love and the cruelty of the tiger. All these, and other contraries past number, he blended cunningly into one substance and this he molded into the shape that Zeus had described to him. She was as beautiful as a goddess and Zeus named her Pandora which meant "all gifted".

Am I the only person that has ever noticed the correlations between the mythology between Prometheus bringing fire to mortals (great knowledge) and the story of Adam and Eve eating fruit from the Tree of Knowledge?

well at the beggining of christianity there was no mention of satan, evil was just that evil there was no demonic figure.
later when christians encounterd pagans there became a growing trend of a ''devil'' you know the whole pitch fork and pointy tail image.
The christians wanted to create hate for the people they where conquering and trying to convert so they changed the image of there gods.
they changed pan a peacefell pagan god of fertility and farming to satan.
i can see the idea behind this as propaganda and it wouldnt be the first time the church has changed views of certain things.
e.g. jesus ws portrayed as being good looking and strong.
but the only portrayal of jesus from the time he lived was a roman poster warrenting his arrest and he was described as an unattractive hunchback

You would have been better off mentioning the Sumerian texts and its relativeness to the bible. I don't know of anywhere in the bible that it talks about the seven circles of "hell," and such. As a matter of fact, very little is said about "hell' in the bible, and to me, that is just as well. Considering my opinion of the whole "hell" concept.

With regard to the word hell in the bible I have found 2 references in Deuteronomy, 1 in Samuel, 2 in Job, 7 in Psalms, 7 in Proverbs, 6 in Isaiah, 4 in Ezekiel, 1 in Amos, 1 in Jonah, 1 in Habakkuk, 2 in Matthew, 2 in Luke, Acts 2 Revelation 4

As there are about 4 different meanings of hell, we also find in Matthew another 6, 3 in Mark, 2 in Luke, and 1 in 2nd Peter.

These are All the references in the bible and there are No others.

Nothing at all like what you have written, Qhote:-

the seventh circle of hell

So I don't know where you got this false information from?????

All religions have been Inspired by one source Only and that is The Mind!

But you must bear in mind, that what you call falsely your mind, is actually a droplet of One The True Mind as there is only One True Mind....

Many Ideas about The Life of God being The Light of Man we can find in the philosophy of Plotinus and Plato,

Quote as written in history:-

Plato compared the highest Idea with the Sun, (Sun of Righteousness in the book of Malachi Chapter 4 verse 2) and Plotinus also described the meeting with the divine as the experience o0f Light.
'This Light,' he says, 'comes from the Highest Being, and it is the Highest Being Himself..... God comes with Light.

Just for thought, what is the oldest texts known in existence?

I know the zeitgeist guys tried to "interpret" a story from Egyptian pictures but what do we have for texts? (book of the dead I know of but not the "horus story" claims.

Oldest Torah texts

But the two 7th century BCE silver scrolls containing excerpts from the Bible have pride of place in the exhibition. The valuable scrolls, which are several hundred years older than the Dead Sea Scrolls, contain the oldest Torah texts in existence

www.ynetnews.com...

The Hindu Vedas texts: It is unknown when it was finally committed to writing, but this probably was at some point after 300 B.C.

The oldest Buddhist text I could find was 1st century.

Now the epic of Gilgamesh is old, the tales told about Gilgamesh are some eight hundred to nine hundred years older than any possible oral telling of the Old Testament stories in the Book of Exodus (before Moses) from what I found in research. They are the same story of the great flood in my opinion. Details are a bit different unless we had more than one boat which I guess is possible.

There are many other writings which the Synagogue have in their Libraries.

Do you realise there are hundreds of different Genesis books.

Many are referred to as the little Genesis books...

The Roman collection of Hebrew and Greek writings in the New Testament are only a very small number of Christian writings.

But these texts are Not what Jesus was teaching his Disciples.

The writings I am referring to is The Book of Life.

If you look at the Old Byzantium churches and monasteries you will find for example in Daphni , Greece late 11th century you will find a mosaic called Christ as Pantocrator Παντοκράτωρ in Greek.

Another was in the Cathedral of St.Peter, Cefalu, circa 1148 that was recently destroyed by an earth quake and is being restored.

In Both of these Jesus is shown holding a Book????

Many have been taught that only scrolls were back in the days of Jesus and before, but this is totally incorrect, as books and scrolls have both existed thousands of years before this.

The oldest language I know of, is Zionic. Much of Ionic Greek came from the fonts used in Zionic but in many cases only half the font has been adopted from Zionic.

The Zionic or more correctly the ZION Language was a Geometric Language and Not an Audible language and the unutterable name of God INZ came from Zionic.

To understand the texts in Zionic it is possible to back engineer once you understand the principals of geometry and language.

The Zionic language existed long before the earth existed but unfortunately I can Not prove this in this World...

Unfortunately many of the Christian writings have been polluted by the lack of knowledge by translators regarding The Parable of Life or The True Mind.

However even though the written book of life was confiscated by the Roman rulers we can still gain access to the real book of life today.

As it is mentioned in the Revelation that there was no one on earth or in heaven that could open the book The Lamb of God could open the books and read them.

There is in fact more than 110 Greek versions of The Revelation of Jesus Christ now called Revelation.

The one in the bible was chosen by the Romans and then altered to suit the Roman Government or holy Roman empire.

The Lamb is Not Jesus Christ because He is the Good shepherd and not a Lamb.

The original text states that It was "The Little Living One" that could open the Books.

There is 144 Octagons in the so called Lamb which there are 3 formats,
12 x 12 octagons as a square one on its side the other on its edge and the other format is in the shape of an octagons in a disc or as it was referred to in those days a "Horse".

The Word Horse in its True context does Not mean the horse as an animal but in the context of, as in a horse chestnut or a chest nut that is big and round!

So the word "Horse" meant Large and Round hence a Disc!

There is also a ring of 16 Octagons associated with the Lamb and a ring of 12 Octagons that are used to load the books.

The Books appear as to inclined squares each at 22.5 degrees and opposed to each other.

It is these square pages that were copied the manuals for operating the system that has access to the Father through he Son. It the Lamb that opens the books, the 144, octagons.

So the Oldest book of all is the Book of Life in "The Man Child" mentioned in the Revelation of Jesus Christ.

Often The Man Child (INI Sigma) is referred to as the Son of Man.

If you want more on this then contact me via U2U and I will try and answer your questions if I can
