did you hear that NYU has created a game that is all about hunting illegal immigrants

i heard this strange piece of news on the radio this morning and i am just reading about it now...

here ya'll go:

"Illegal immigrant hunt is a PR stunt"...

The NYU College Republicans are creating controversy once again - big surprise.

Today, you might notice a table near the south side of the Silver Center manned by members, and the inevitable protesters arguing with them. This time the issue is immigration, and the Republicans are playing "Find the Illegal Immigrant," a game where the winner will find someone walking around with a tag reading "illegal immigrant." Ostensibly, participants in the game take a moment and read the Republican literature, or maybe even consider their policy offerings.

Oh, wait - never mind. We were starting to write this editorial as if the point or points of the event were policy, reading or even thinking. No one is under that illusion - not even the Republicans themselves. This is a publicity stunt, and everyone knows it. We think it's also the case that students are conditioned at this point to assume any College Republican event is a publicity stunt. This is unfair, but it's the College Republicans' own fault.

New York University Illegal Immigrant Game Has Some Calling Event 'Racist'...

NEW YORK — A student Republican club at New York University has planned a 'Find the Illegal Immigrant' game for Thursday that has some on campus calling the event "racist."

In what it says is an attempt to get students to debate the issue of illegal immigration, members of the club who present their NYU identification cards can be immigration agents for the day and search for an illegal immigrant in a crowd of people. The agent who successfully identifies the illegal immigrant wins a gift certificate.

But the club said the event is aimed at sparking debate on the controversial political issue of illegal immigrants. As of Wednesday morning, 64 people said on Facebook.com that they were planning to attend the event.

A student club at NYU is making a political statement wherein people are asked to try and find the club member in a crowd who is wearing a sticker that says 'illegal immigrant'.
