This policy isn't working and the C.i.A. is freaking out I bet.
Can you say "Instability around the globe"

All people on here who are puffing your chest out and saying America can't be defeated? KNOW that we are being defeated day by day and dollar for dollar what we are spending.

www.informationclearinghouse.info...

War Has Increased Terrorism Sevenfold Worldwide By Peter Bergen and Paul Cruickshank 02/21/07 "Mother Jones" - -- "If we were not fighting and destroying this enemy in Iraq, they would not be idle. They would be plotting and killing Americans across the world and within our own borders. By fighting these terrorists in Iraq, Americans in uniform are defeating a direct threat to the American people." So said President Bush on November 30, 2005, refining his earlier call to "bring them on." Jihadist terrorists, the administration’s argument went, would be drawn to Iraq like moths to a flame, and would perish there rather than wreak havoc elsewhere in the world. The president’s argument conveyed two important assumptions: first, that the threat of jihadist terrorism to U.S. interests would have been greater without the war in Iraq, and second, that the war is reducing the overall global pool of terrorists. However, the White House has never cited any evidence for either of these assumptions, and none appears to be publicly available. The administration’s own National Intelligence Estimate on "Trends in Global Terrorism: implications for the United States," circulated within the government in April 2006 and partially declassified in October, states that "the Iraq War has become the ‘cause celebre’ for jihadists...and is shaping a new generation of terrorist leaders and operatives." Yet administration officials have continued to suggest that there is no evidence any greater jihadist threat exists as a result of the Iraq War. "Are more terrorists being created in the world?" then-Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld rhetorically asked during a press conference in September. "We don’t know. The world doesn’t know. There are not good metrics to determine how many people are being trained in a radical madrasa school in some country." In January 2007 Director of National Intelligence John Negroponte in congressional testimony stated that he was "not certain" that the Iraq War had been a recruiting tool for Al Qaeda and played down the likely impact of the war on jihadists worldwide: "I wouldn’t say there has been a widespread growth in Islamic extremism beyond Iraq. I really wouldn’t." Indeed, though what we will call "The Iraq Effect" is a crucial matter for U.S. national security, we have found no statistical documentation of its existence and gravity, at least in the public domain. In this report, we have undertaken what we believe to be the first such study, using information from the world’s premier database on global terrorism. The results are being published for the first time by Mother Jones, the news and investigative magazine, as part of a broader "Iraq 101" package in the magazine’s March/April 2007 issue.

In Iraq america is not being defeated what the TV and papers aernt telling you is how many we kill a day all they show is stuff to make us (public) want pull out and run home like the brits are doing if they would atleast show something good once in a while i think people would lighten up a bit also most of the trouble is in the anbar province and baghdad not the rest of Iraq. Most of the time the terrorist are just blowing up buildings and stuff like that targeting there own people a lot of soliders are in the wrong place at the wrong time. But when something does blow up they send soliders out to the spot and if there are terrorist still there its like a two for one deal. The way i look at it is people are just afraid to lose a loved one but its war people die two of my friends are fixen to ship out and a few have already been there i am probably going there soon if we dont get out but its all worth it to me if I keep people from coming on my home soil and killing my family friends and even the people i share this country with.

I don't like Bush, but I support the war in Iraq. I think cutting tail and running sends the wrong message to out enemies.

I think the democrats are more interested in making Bush look like an ass then doing whats best for either country.

If the democrats get thier wish and pull out of Iraq then anything that happens afterwards can be used for political gain and blamed on the republicans for going to war in the first place.

As far as I'm concernd Hillary Clinton is almost as responsable as GW Bush. Like it or not she voted for the war as did the overwhelming majority of congress.

Terrorism is used as a scapegoat for further foreign military action. The CIA isn't freaking out. They're having a party knowing that this is exactly what they want. An excuse to remain in the Middle East indefinitely.

Im sure the CIA is having a party knowing how they got everything to go there way not. There is terrorism rather you look at it or not you cant just throw a sheet over it tie it up and throw it in the dumpster the only reason there hasnt been an act in America lately is because we have drawn there attention away from here because they know we are spending money in Iraq to build schools and hospitals and its easier to hit there becase Iraq's police departments are not holding up there end of the deal im not denying that oil is not a big deal i mean if you can make money in a war why not but i really believe being there is best way to keep terroist out of this country.

Are you implying that acts or terrorism on American soil were in some way connected to the Saddam regime in Iraq? Can you provide evidence of this?

[and we should be repairing the infrastructure in Iraq, not only will it help to create a decent society for people to live in, it was probably us that blew it up in the first place]

No im not saying that Saddam im saying that the terroist are all going to Iraq thats why there has not been an attack in America. The terroist are blowing stuff up not our soliders have you been there can you prove we are blowing up stuff just to rebuild it no. We are putting up school and hospitals in areas where there were none.

want pull out and run home like the brits are doing

19 Kilo, are you really suggesting that we Brits who, I might remind you, have been with you from Day 1 in both Gulf Wars - are suddenly turning tail and are running for home?

How dare you slight the bravery of our men and women serving in Iraq.

What gives you the right to make such accusations?

One of the reasons we are pulling out of certain areas in and around Basra, is because we believe in the 'Hearts and Minds' strategy accompanied where necessary, by the iron fist. Unlike our Colonial friends who still prefer to shoot first and ask questions later!

This approach has stood the UK armed forces in good stead when dealing with so called insurgents and it is because of this approach, that our servicemen and women are able to return home.

19 Kilo, we are not leaving 'cause you dont want the world looking at you in a bad way'.

My friend, we're leaving because those in control think our job is done and our troops are desperately needed in Afghanistan.

If we in the UK were worried about world opinion, we would not have sided with the US in the first place.
