I think the adoption agency being required to ask whether they prefer a straight or gay couple to adopt the child could very well be a diplomatic
point that should not be overlooked as an option.
Should they ask if the parents prefer rich or middle class?
Should they ask if the parents prefer intelligent or high-school dropouts?
Should they ask if the parents prefer Christian or Muslim?
Should they ask if the parents prefer white or black?
Should they ask if the parents prefer young or middle aged?
Should they ask if the parents prefer handicapped or able-bodied?
You see, once you give your child up for adoption, it's not yours anymore. You don't get to make decisions about where it goes. If you want to
decide for the child, you have to keep it. The adoption agency decides who would make good parents, not you.
You don't get to choose.
