strange flash over brisbane australia 20/02/07

i was standing at my back window tonight at about 11pm talking on the phone, this window directly faces the brisbane cbd. as i was chit chating away there was a flash of very bright light with a brighter "beam" in the center, this flash lasted maybe half a second and caused my dog wich was in the back yard at the time to bolt into the front yard even though he was looking at me at the time and did not see the flash, im certian it was not lightning because there are no storm clouds or even clouds around.

hopefully tomorro i will take a photo of where i saw this flash and makeup a photoshoped rendition of it as its much to dark to take a photo right now.

ive racked my brain and cant think of what this might be dose anyone have any thoughts?

or did anyone from brisbane wittness anything similar tonight

p.s yes i know my spelling and grammar suck but i was a terrable grammar student, no matter how hard i tryed i couldnt get my head around it

i dont believe so, it was around 11pm at the time most folks were in bed

first thing i thought was nuke, due to the bright flash, then i realised i was still alive and theres was a brighter beam in the center

the more i rack my brain over what it was the odder it seems to me

We had very light lighting storms on saturday night, but i think the proper term is Sheet lighting, where you really dont need any signs of storm. When i lived on the coast and fished of a night time it was quite common.

Could it be anything to do with this - "explosion of some sort in outer space"? It was said to be visible over Southern Queensland.

There now seems to be three or four threads all talking about this. It's pretty clear that everyone is talking about the same event. I'm just annoyed because I too live in Brisbane but I missed it.

dont quote me but im pretty sure this forums time stamps come from the server clock, that would be in american time..... there afew hours behind

I wasn't talkiing about the time stamp on your post.
I was talking about the time/date YOU said it happend

now i'm sure we all know that this did happen now

but the time/date you stated in your OP was about 4hr's before it was actualy that time...
