Other than your opinion, could you please provide a source for this information?

Perhaps it is due to upringing, having a speech impediment, or some other adopted form of illogical dysfunction, but i believe ...

peer, sphere, leer, jeer, beer, steer and mere all rhyme with the word dear, and they have no "a" in them.

But, if i do have a speech impediment, it is due to being taught that dear is pronounced deer, not with any "a" sound.
