Wow, BTS doesn't like me I guess. I couldn't open a thread in the main page but while looking at someone elses, it lets me. Anyways, My sisters
laptop is a presario V2000 and she got it from a crappy third party website distributor. I would never buy compaq but she didn't consult me before
hand. Anyways, the laptop came preloaded with all sorts of crap and no OS recovery cd or anything of the like. I used my old XP cd to reinstall the OS
but the drivers for her laptop just aren't working right.(it didn't come with a driver disc) Graphics, Audio, SM Bus, wireless network, etc just
aren't recognized. I went to the manufacturers website and downloaded all the drivers from the official source but that hasn't helped. When
installing the chipset software, it says it's not supported. I tried the other versions of the V2000 (the laptop only has V2000 with no letters
afterwords) and the chipset software for the V2000T didn't give any error message and said plug and play was installed... But none of the other
drivers seemed to have any effect. Then I moved on to the V2000Z and it had the same effect as the vanilla V2000. it kept complaining it wasn't the
right version. For the audio, all the drivers give error code 10 device could not be started. For the rest, it just said that they couldn't be
installed because they didn't have any drivers. So... What can cause drivers to not work from the manufacturer? If it was a V2000T, wouldn't it say
on the logo? (it's on the top right hand side of the screen) Is she just all around screwed? Any help is greatly appreciated.
