The AQ threats towards Canada are flowing again. Although they didn't limit their threat just to Canada, being the main source of oil for the USA puts us in the 'limelight'.

Canada is the biggest exporter of crude oil to the United States, followed by Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela.

Aljazeera Article

"Targeting oil interests includes production wells, export pipelines, oil terminals and tankers and that can reduce US oil inventory, forcing it to take decisions it has been avoiding for a long time and confuse and strangle its economy," the al-Qaeda publication said.

I have heard via radio that 'all out attacks' against Alberta's oil region would not be posssible, however they do feel that small key disruptions of the many pipelines transporting the oil to the USA could in fact happen and fairly easily at that.

Canadian energy sector officials said they were taking the threat seriously but hadn't raised security levels.

Should we be worried because we shouldn't be worried?

My feelings are any terrorist attacks on Canadian soil are bad and should be prevented at all cost.

The impression I am getting from this is that we don't plan on doing anything other than the everyday stuff.

Has this become normal for most threats now, or is it just us?
