Thanks for bringing the topic, Jimmy. All possible focus should be on, and it should be discussed widely. I can only agree with your conclusion.
Also that cross Atlantic relations are changing. Spirits on each side is drifting further and further apart. And the U.S. is taken advantages.
Bullying, if you ask me.
Unfortunately it's an issue disliked by most Americans, incl those fellow members here on ATS. Issues like this is deemed bush-bashing, but they're
fully legitimated in my opinion.
When I was younger --and it's so long ago that the cold war was deep frozen-- I used to have nightmares of missiles haulling down over my known
neighbourhood. It was horrible.
I don't have nightmares anymore, but I do have visions, and one is of the US and EU fighting a war against eachother. God forbid it.
But as things are developing, the attitudes, the mentality of Euroes and Americans (some) becoming further and further apart, the risque is certain to
be present in the coming decade.
I don't hope it is so, that our common values are splitting, each going their own way.
It is kind of a paradox, like the Israelies are going nazi in insisting on judaism, the Americans are going stalinist in their insisting on capitalism
(I don't buy the "democracy" bogus).
I don't know any other way than to confront and discuss those issues, hieghten the awareness, because I never believed the people of America wanted
things like they've become ...or will go.
Anyway I did a thread on this report, when it was preliminary released in November.
