What happened to Frederick Valentich ?

In 1978 this Man reported seeing a Unknown air craft 1000 feet above him While he was flying a cessna airplane. At which then he reported the object kept moving over him at various high speeds. Then it was over him with a green light shining on him, his radio transmission stopped with ground control and for 17 seconds and he dissappeared ,never heard from again with NO wreckage found.

Definately a strange event which has never been solved. I'm old enough to remember it happening.

The audio is pretty scratchy and you have to listen pretty hard.

Edit: The more I think about it, I seem to remember it being mentioned somewhere that the original recording had been destroyed.
On purpose or accidentally I couldn't tell you.

Hey openmind15. I have read the tower/sierra delta transcript many times of Valentich Oct 21/78 disappearance. But I'll be darned to locate the audio transmission. Australian Aviation reporter Fred Teasoff said he heard the full transmission, and the Valentich/Tower transmissions duration was a wee-bit over 17 minutes.
Sorry I cant offer more than that.

There was indeed an audio recording of valentich's last radio transmission. the authorities made a copy and gave one to Valentich's father for humanitarian reasons. The other copy was erased or mysteriously lost. I think a copy might still exist in their archives somewhere, but it is not available to the public. I believe Guido Valentich actually allowed Bill Chaulker to listen to it, and I think someone else, and they were indeed very puzzled by the strange metalic scraping sound at the end of the transmission.
