For Lisa this is awful news and it makes her out to be a bad and desperate person. However, I think this is EXACTLY the kind of publicity NASA needs. What is better than a hot and steamy(pun intended) crime of passion performed by one of NASA's finest.
What they say in Hollywood is also true for Space Agencies, there is no such thing as bad publicity. The more NASA can stay in the American spotlight the more likely they will be funded by the congress and the more engaged the public will be with them.
What do you guys think, will this help or hurt NASA in the long run?

It's not looking good on NASA at the moment, as I watched a report last night on CNN dealing with NASA's testing and how it might not be good enough given the events surrounding the activities of Ms. Nowak.

However, the spin doctor's will be hard at work on this one I'm sure, or they will completely wash their hands of it.

I don't know. If NASA knew of irregularities in her behavior then yes, it would be bad for them. But you never know with people and what makes them snap. Even serial killers can live and act normaly for long periods of time and evade detection.

Yea, I guess all of us at one time or another has gotten the urge to put on a new diaper and hit the open road for a cool 900 miles before stopping. What was she thinking, and for that guy?

To NASA it shouldn't matter what she was thinking, NASA shouldn't over ananlyze this and should see it for what it is, free air time. If the diapers weren't involved NASA could use this as an opportunity to spice up it's image, however the diapers kind of take away from that effect, at least for me.

NASA should use this story to try to remain in the publics view as long as possible, the more exposure the better!

Regardless, of how gross this was, in the end this event helps to humanize NASA and it helps fuse groups like Jerry Springer fan's with NASA's.

Well, like jon stewart said on the daily show the other night, " News hasn't been this good since the vice president shot an old man in the face" Now of course, people will try to say that nasa's testing isnt good enough etc. But we should just sit back and say thank you to Ms. Lisa Nowak. What other country can say that their female astronaut drove 900 miles wearing a diaper to attempt to kidnap her lover's......lover.

America truly is the greatest country in the world!!!

ps...that was sarcasm.

It could be good, it could be bad.

If astronaut becomes a slang term for a crazy chick that stalks people...It's bad.

If the term, "Crazier than an astronaut" is accepted into the general lexicon...It's bad.

If you ask someone to do something you know they don't want to do, and they reply. "I'll put that on my to do list, right after getting romanticly involved with an astronaut".......It's bad.

This is something were just going to have to watch play out. It could go either way.

On that note, good luck convincing a truly sane person to get on board a massive rocket knowing NASA's previous history with manned space flight. Being an Astronaut is a bit like being a fighter pilot I would imagine, you want your pilots to have a little natural crazy in them, so they aren't chicken %^&. I'm sure a little bit of crazy helps people work in stressful situations and so on.

I think the media is grasping at any straw they can get, anything for a story.
The death of Anna Nichol is a bonus because it takes the light off of Lisa Nowak.

I'll wait for the whole story to be told before I pass judgment, but for now, I won't speculate over her motive.
I respect the work this woman has done, and I still think of her as an example of someone that sought the stars and achieved her dreams.

This huge focus of her putting on a diaper just makes me mad because for an astronaut it's a very common thing. She saw a way to a means that made sense to her at the time, and this woman has worn diapers many times during her career.

I wish her all the best in the future, and I hope she can get past this incident and continue her exemplary career.
