One biggo just crash landed recently in the basra. A military aircraft the size of a 747.

They'll claim it was a mechanical fault as ussually, but just like with the sea king, they would be LYING.

What's the difference between the side i ally myself with and yours? The people i ally with are in their country, in their own homes on their own streets, and they never started this war. They don't deserve to die.

Unlike your boys who do not belong there. Sure i wish things where different, sure i wish Iraqies didn't have to hurt your boys, as i'm sure they wish it to. But that's really up to your side isn't it? How can you ask me not to be happy about being victorious? That would be impossible.

The only transport of 747 size that I can think of would be a Galaxy. As you mentioned Basra, that would be the UK sector.

Now, considering this is the first time I have heard of this (nothing on the news about a crash and they are usually rather quick in telling us), was the "transport" landing in Basra, or was it overflying onwards to Baghdad.

The reason I ask, is that even taking into account your "heroes" having shiny new MANPAD's, I severely doubt that one could take out a Galaxy at cruising altitude, so what your suggesting is an RAF Galaxy landing at Basra has been shot down. This I doubt, as we would of heard. If you want to maintain the charade, then wait until morning when I will contact my uncle, who is an RAF Officer.

impossible i thought, could humans have the technology to bring down entire glaxies now?

And then i found out that's its just an aircraft called a galaxy. Heh heh, well i guess you had to be there.

If it was an RAF Galaxy, that is a serious blow (we only have 4 I think) and would be all over the news. It is not.

Until credible proff present's itself, I am chalking this one down to a Graduate of the Goebell's School of Fibbing...

Well i was told it was a galaxy, i remember that because of the humorous way which i reacted.

The article though says it was a hercules, so you can breath out now.

In fact, the RAF does not operate a single Galaxy, but rather 4 C-17 Globmaster's.

Well, a big difference between a C-130 and a "747 sized aircraft".. but hey ho.

The articles mention an explosion on landing. This could be a tyre blowing, or maybe explosives on the runway. I find the second hard to believe if it was inside the perimiter of an airbase, but the C-130 can land in makeshift strips, so maybe it wasn't in a base as such.

The second article from the Gazzette and Herald is puzzling. It mentions:

It is not known which regiment was flying the plane or who the passengers were.

No "regiment" flies any planes. I could chalk this down to the journalist not knowing what he is talking about, mind you. Sq's 24, 30, 47 and 70 fly Herc's. Could be anyone of those as they all do sorties into Iraq.

Are you an Iraqi or living in Iraq? If not, then you're not currently occupied are you? You just happen to have chosen sides with the insurgents, and what was said previously holds true. I feel for the average Iraqis that may be suffering too, but not a thing for the insurgents- they aren't the friends of the average citizen in Iraq. They are nothing more than thugs, criminals, and terrorists, who lust for power and influence and use terror and intimidation to get their way. If they weren't killing people, and causing disorder, the American/Allied forces could leave, so don't even try to make it out like we're trying to oppress them. You have dictatorships in Syria and Iran that are terrified of a democratically elected government in their playground, because their populations might get idea too. The Syrians are interfering in Lebanon too, which is why they had huge demonstrations against Syrian meddling. It's not just the USA that meddles, and when we do, at least it's with the notion of improving things, not screwing them up. You may disagree with Bush, and that's your prerogative, but to revel in the deaths of servicemen and women who don't have a say in the politics is a crock. They're trying to help out, and you're so blinded by your ideology, you refuse to acknowledge that fact. They just want to get Iraq stabilized, and get back home.

What is the difference indeed....those people have been killing each other for hundredes of years and now that we(U.S) are in the region we are killing the peacful people of Iraq without mercy! LOL you are kidding right you respond in an effort to spur debate right ....Every death makes you happy and anytime a tank or humvee is destroyed you jump for joy but before you do to much jumping think about this .....You think this killing helps win the war for the insurgents ? or will it make the American people even more resolute in winning?These people make me sick they have taken a religion with a great history of respect and honor and preverted it so they can hide behind it and kill in its name .I think its great we as Americans can do our part in sending as many of these insurgents to meet their seventy virgins as we can before we leave.I for one am proud of MY troops and all they do , one plane down WOW great victory LOL get over yourself . If you had any idea of combat you would know that it does not take a high tech. weapon to down an aircraft..how many sorties fly over Iraq a day?its a drop in the bucket but if it makes you happy ok hold on to it I dont care but the reality is they are LOOSING .
