Once in a while when I lie down to go to bed I place my head on the pillow and I can make out what definantly sounds like music or a radio playing. one night it drove me crazy. Nothing in the house was on at all and I would lay down and hear rock music, but only when I laid down. When I got up I'd search the house and no radio was on and I wouldnt hear anything only when I would lie down. This happens on occassion and I have no explanation as to what it could be.

I've had that happen to me on 2 occasions as well. Once on a school camp, and once at my own house.

In the school trip we all slept in sleeping bags on the floor in a 100+ year old boarding school, which was several stories tall. We slept on the top floor because it wasn't used any more. Occasionally through the night music would kind of drift in through one of the doors, but a few of us went to look for it a few times and there was no source.

At home one night this riff (that i can still hear in my head to this day) played over and over the entire night, and i was just too tired to get up and do anything about it... i mean, i would attribute it to neighbors playing music or something but it was no song I've ever heard and this 10 second sound bite just replayed over and over again for like 9 hours.

I guess that you'll have made sure that it wasn't coming from a neighbour's.

Hearing does seem to become more sensitive when we're lying down and going to sleep. I've heard stuff when I'm lying down and got up to go look and found that it's harder to hear it, that I had to kind of be still and try and tune back into it to figure out what it was.

One thing you might try if you haven't already is next time you start hearing it, you could see if it's still audible if you lie down elsewhere in the room, in the house, or if you move your bed a little.

Also, does your bed have a metal frame? I'm wondering if in you're maybe picking up sound waves that are coming from some distance away and your bed is in just the right place to catch them and amplify them.
