Bostonian authorities responded to reports of strange devices next to roads and bridges. Police feared they were explosives, bomb squads were brought in and one of the devices was destroyed. Bridges, subways, and roads were shut down in Boston.

It turns out that the devices are nothing more than custom light brights, they are part of a marketing campaign for a movie based on the cartoon aqua teen hunger force.

It becomes evident how fearful the nation is when such a silly thing can shut down a city.

Its not silly, its a weird electrical device on public infrastructure. THere shouldn't be anything on bridges and the like. The actual device pretty obviously isn't a part of the bridge, and who the heck, in this day and age, would put a weird electronic device on a bridge, if not a terrorist? It was a perfectly natural thing to report. People couldn't reasonably expect that a bunch of jerks working for an advertising company would put them up.

And lets remember, the point of it was pretty obviously to make people think that there had been a bomb, to create a bomb scare, at least of a small magnitude. So it really wasn't too far off for people to think 'maybe its a bomb' , that was the point of the thing.
