The scariest story of the year?

Uranium isn't all that difficult to aqquire but to make a bomb is immensly difficult.

Not really, and as shown above, relatively simple once you have the components to do so. 20-30 kg of 235U (I think) is all that's really needed for a good wallop...and is the alledged design for "suitcase nukes."

Scary when you think about it...all you need is a trigger mechanism (not necessarily one which would need a lot of maintenance, either...like we've been told), a suitcase, a detonating timer, and two balls of just under CM volume of Uranium. Put together properly, you'd have something large enough that, if placed strategically, would take out a city for many, many years...and scare people for long after.

Of all my concerns about terrorism, this is my worst nightmare. And once one realizes both how easy and how available plans are, one gets a sort of shrinking feeling in their belly...

I know a lot of old guys from the forces that is exactly the same thing they been telling me for ages.

If its that simple, and (apparently) it that easy to get the stuff we would not be having this conversation.

Dirty bomb aside. Real nukes are are hard to make.

First of all let me say I am no scientist, but I was an atomic weapons assembler for 8 inch and 155mm artillery projectiles and we handled weapons grade uranium routinely, the thing is that it’s incredibly heavy a thing that looks about the size of a one pound coffee can weights about 150 pounds, so I don’t know how much you could carry around easily but it certainly won’t kill you to be near the stuff.

If I'm wrong then prove it, Like I said the physical side of the bomb is in theory relativly simple. It is the mathematics behind getting the thing to go SUpercritical therefore causeing the Nuclear explosion that is the hardest part.

Please don't come on and make out what i've said is BS without any evidence
