New FBI internet program

The FBI appears to have adopted an invasive Internet surveillance technique that collects far more data on innocent Americans than previously has been disclosed.

Am I the only one upset with our governments intrusion on my rights?Is my computer covered by the 4th ammendment?

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

I am tired of being guilty until proven innocent. I think my computer and my time on the internet is protected as "my effects".

Public communications don't require a warrant to monitor. Email, that could be a different story, but, online activity in general? If its ok for the ISP to have all your information, why can't the government had it too?

I have no problem with it.... maybe they'll catch more sexual predators, terrorist, and criminals in general.

Because the ISP is a paid partner providing a service, the government is not.

I think they cease to be public with firewalls and other security devices.
If it was really "public communication" why all the need for security?
I think it is another example of our government chipping away at my right to privacy.

This is a huge waste of taxpayer money as well as illegal as hell. The agencies refer to these large scale surveillances as 'fishing expeditions' and as a waste of time that could be used to actually pursue terrorists. Perhaps we should 'all' withhold our taxes until these ridiculous policies are terminated. Of course that would only work if we all did it.

The 4th Amendment protects the American citizens from this type of treasonous behavior.

Amendment IV

The Fourth, and possibly the third, since your computer is in your home, and is a storage bin for your personal information. These agents aren't simply searching you computer, they are stationed there, waiting.

while your computer is covered under the fourth amendment, the actions you record on websites are not covered under your fourth amendment rights they are covered under the company or buisness owners rights wherever you go on the internet.

I do believe that this would violate computer code laws such as hacking and phishing laws that are on the books already. I am sure that they can (and perhaps do) record these activities but they would never be able to use them in court unless they had some real reason to conduct an actual warent search of your hard drive.
