I've got a complaint, I can't read ATS anymore

And nobody seems to give a crap. I've sent two complaints over the past week, but not even a response from anyone.

ATS dark is just unreadable to me, and ATS light doesn't work for me, it's even darker than dark. When will ATS get off this stupid "we look cool" trip and focus on real information exchange like it was before, when i could actually read, post, and participate. Now i check everyday, it's still unreadable (with firefox 2.0, only browser i use) and i'm really saddened with the direction our beloved ATS has taken.

ATS was the best site on the internet IMO until it changed to resemble something put together by a 13 year old gamer. I've tried to deal with it/live with it but i literally can't read it, trying to read the first topic title or two hurts my eyes so bad that i don't bother anymore because it's futile.

Oh, and the complain feature that's so touted, no response from anyone, not even a confirmation that anybody even read it. Seems to me lik it goes directly to the trash bin.

I'm sorry for being harsh in my post, but i'm angry that i've been completely ignored, even a "go to hell" would at least let me know that my complaints were read, and sad to see ATS turn into THIS abomination.

well I use Fire Fox2 and have no problems at all, you might want to check your monitor settings.

Yup. Looks fine for me, and the 'Light' setting makes it look like the old version in text colours, so perhaps you should change your monitor settings, or change text sizes? View>Text Size>Increase (or just CTRL +
)

Well, I can see and post clearly but I think ATS has taken a completely different path then when I first started coming here years ago. It seems to have gone more commercial. There's even talk of a TV show now??? What's that about? It seems ATS is involved in many of the things people complain about on this site. Such as media control, commercialism, etc...

I also hate the new format as well. I liked the old home page better.

Just my thoughts.

I absolutley hate the light version. I think the whole icon fad is overrated and doesn't help the reader distinguish between topics, because the icon's are just too small and they all look the same.

Can we change from a tropical color scheme to something based on the rainbow so we can easily read it with our eyes.

It's also sad to see that websites like these alway's have to capitalize on their enormous visitors.

911 truth is turning into a money making machine, i dont blame them though, i wouldn't want to invest my money in something that is justed used by people and has no direct influence in the world

Removeeeeee the icon's near the line's of each recent post. It makes the whole thing hard to read because the eye always looks at the left most point when starting to read. We end up getting a brainfreeze on the small icon cuz its hard to see and then we have to observe where the topic name starts and read it..

make it so that when we click recent posts the left most side is just the writing. put the icon to the right of the topic names. I think that will satisfy people.

If it is not your browser (I have FF2), or your brightness, contrast, browser text size, or your video card settings maybe u2u skeptic and he might add a stripped down layout for view functionalilty.

Exactly, except for the being able to read it, my eyes just can't deal with all that grey, and i've got good eyes, 20/20 a few minutes trying to read ATS now gives me a headache. I agree, it's just not the same anymore, ATS seems to be selling out to commercialism.

This is the only site that gives me problems, after my first visit on light setting, the style sheet glitches and everything goes dark on dark grey.

Here's what mine looks like:

Try and read that, that's my "light" setting, i can read the dark, but like i said, not for long without hurting my head.

What happened? ATS used to be cool!

Tip for FireFox and especialy Linux users.
There is a lil feature "custom CSS"

With which you can pritty much redesign ATS to look however you like, localy :p

Also, your problem, seems your browser isn't loading CSS correctly.

Try to load it with the direct link:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

I'm guessing something is either being blocked or going wrong with your FF install.

It loads fine the first time, then goes to crap. It's the only site that i have problems with, every other site i visit works just fine, my problem seems to be ATS specific.

Even when it's working, it still resembles some 13yo's crappy "cool" looking website, the ones i don't visit because reading light text on dark screws with my eyes, i'm not a typesetter.

I miss ATS, i hope they bring back the "real" site and get rid of this crap so i can spend time here.

Dark background with grey text is actualy as soft as you can get for the eyes.

But like I said, if you don't like it, use the custom CCS features in Firefox and write the colors to whatever you want them to be.

Yeah, I definately find white-on-black much easier on the eyes than reading traditional black text on a white background, especially for long periods. It's like staring into a giant square lightbulb
.

My only problem is that I have to scroll over to read each line of text. My screen is set to 800x600 and that's how I like it. 1024x768 makes it incredibly small, and that's the only way it fully fits. Are there any Internet Explorer options that could fix this? The "Text Size" option doesn't seem to affect posts at all.

Meh, it's not too bad. I just can't read posts and see the username of the person posting them at the same time.

We're more inclined to respond to queries that don't contain derogatory remarks and juvenile comments.

As it is, it looks like your browser is not loading the site style sheets.

Since the redesign, our traffic and pages-viewed per visitor have jumped, indicating that overall, most users are favorable.

ATS has been around for years before 9/11. The events of 9/11 and the trail of unaccountability and sheer nonsense in terms of government explanations however, did drive mainstream web users to us.

Spot on! But we do offer the Light version for those preferring the old style sheet.

ATS is evolving to keep with the changing and continually evolving World Wide Web. Bar a few people who would prefer the likes of BBS in true 80s fashion, visitors want to see advanced Web 2.0 feature sets and ATS is truely leading the field in discussion board advancement and technologies.

For pretty much the whole community, this is seen as a positive thing, and we feel the same! When we did our last "Dark Matter" revamp, viewers increased, page-views-per-visitor increased, registrants increased etc.

It may be perceived that we are becoming more commercial (I think a better description is more professional in maintenance, operation and presentation), but that is evolution.

Also, if it wasn't for our continued efforts to grow ATS and increase the user base, I guarantee you ATS would have shut down years ago. It nearly did, at one time I had in fact nearly given up hope of recovering before SkepticOverlord convinced me he could do wonders... and with his vast knowledge of all things Internet, he has helped create a great site we are extremely proud of.

DezertSkies

As S.O. said above, we respond more kindly to users who don't criticise ATS intensely for problems at their end. We certainly try to help everyone out as much as possible but in some cases we reach a point where we run out of possible explanations. Calling us a pile of crap basically isn't going to garner a response!

The page is loading, but your browser isn't loading the CSS style sheets. You must have some option in your browser settings enabled/disabled.
