No one has unlimited hardware/resources..

Most warefare of any duration is of economic attrition. Can you simply wear out the other side. Deprive them of resources..factorys..rescource/raw materials..shipping routes..etc etc.

If you notice carefully...since Vietnam..this scenerio has changed significantly. We are no longer able to stop shipping routes or factorys, raw materials etc etc. This is one of the reasons our wars go on and on and on and on..like forever.

Todays warfare seems to be other nations supplying the fighting partys and thus gauranteeing the war will go on for years and years and years..not finishing. Thus also the profits continue....gauranteed.
This cannot be accidental ..but a careful plan. Especially when you see it continually repeated like in cycles. Different partys involved on the immediate level but the same partys supplying the materials and equipment.
THen when it is over..per se....the supplying partys move on to the next cycle and location ...the UN moves in to administer the new set up in the olde warring location and insure the people remain where they are while new buisnesses come in to the newly prepared/urban renewed ground. Keep an eye on this cycle. YOu will see it repeated over and over.

That person who wrote the article is ignorant of the facts. US is not persuing its cold war posture or strategies. Its changing emphasis from conventional warfare to unconventional warfare. Russia and China's military are still in worse financial and strategic position than the US. Russia finally has the $$ to catch up what it lost in the past. And China is still focusing on "defending" its invasion of Taiwan from american military intervention. So its not the death of american airpower, that person its so stupid its not even funny. Looking at basic facts and comparing to cold war era military posture to now is retarded as the threats have changed. Terrorists pose a real threat while China and Russia poses a theortical threat. Their unlikely to fight a real war with you only posturing. While something like 20 men of middle eastern descent can harm you more than Russia has since the Cold War. The billions with inflation adjusted for the Trillions we spent on cold war era warfare technology did nothing to stop 9-11. So this writer is a retard without even an elementry level comprehension of current global politics.

thanks for the reply my thoughts are that this article is just propaganda but not being a resident of the US it's difficult to know what state your military is in. In Britain our armed forces always seem to lack equipment when sent into battle, it amazes me how are troops cope sometimes with such poor back up, maybe our Euro cousins could offer us some spare kit seeing as they don't seem to want to get involved on the ground

Our military is headed down the same slope as the UK. Our leadership is wont to spend more moneys on social programs/give aways in order to maintain thier re election cycles than take care of the countrys buisness. Our military as of some 20 years ago has also become a testing ground for new pilot social programs because of the cloistered enviornment it naturally is. Success can be touted while failures can be covered up. All these combine to reduce the effectiveness of our military while wasting huge badly needed sums to keep these programs going.
Granted we have a larger military than many countrys but enough of this type of erosion and it will wind up in the same place. Inert...a showpiece for the politicians. This is the direction, the road we are going down.

Also because of the emphasis on such high tech , spares are difficult to keep stocked in some arenas. This has always been true but getting more so.

If you watch and think carefully what is going on here with the new Congress it is all programs to maintain the power base...to solidify this power base.....not necessarily to take care of the buisness of the public. This is what politics here which finances so much of the Military has become. A viscious power struggle to maintain the office..very similar to Ancient Rome....even in its visciousness. It is obvious that these so called Leaders are not taking care of the buisness of the people....but of the political partys. Our military like yours will suffer accordingly and so will our people.
