Te Tiriti was signed between the Crown and Maori. Any prior inhabitants do not come under the agreement.
The Treaty would still stand.

Actually, this is highly political here in Aotearoa/New Zealand, but yah, o.k., there's no credible evidence, there's no major cover up, in my humble opinion.

Humans have been moving around and inhabiting every possible part of the planet for a hundred thousand years or more.

Maori and recent European settlers are just part of N.Z.s recent history.

I would say climate change or even disease clears the land of people on a regular 10,000 year basis.

It is only our limited imagination combined with ego / arrogance that stops us seeing this. As everyone wants to be the " founders " . But in reality knowing this changes nothing. Just like recent discoveries of other multiple primitive humanoid species that are not homo sapiens that interbred with those that left Africa, does not change our reality right here right now.

I am a Kiwi and part Maori . So I understand talk like this threatens some people. But only those who feel like they are still trying to justify their very existence.

And these are also the same people who refuse to even acknowledge certain culturally practices that make them look bad into today's eyes.
