Bloggers Who Criticize Government May Face Prison

infowars.net...

You'd be forgiven for thinking that it was some new restriction on free speech in Communist China. But it isn't. The U.S. Government wants to force bloggers and online grassroots activists to register and regularly report their activities to Congress in the latest astounding attack on the internet and the First Amendment.

Richard A. Viguerie, Chairman of GrassrootsFreedom.com, a website dedicated to fighting efforts to silence grassroots movements, states:

"Section 220 of S. 1, the lobbying reform bill currently before the Senate, would require grassroots causes, even bloggers, who communicate to 500 or more members of the public on policy matters, to register and report quarterly to Congress the same as the big K Street lobbyists. Section 220 would amend existing lobbying reporting law by creating the most expansive intrusion on First Amendment rights ever. For the first time in history, critics of Congress will need to register and report with Congress itself."

Thank you for contributing but we already have a thread on the subject... in fact we have two others, but we want to consolidate them all back down so that all of the information can be accessed easily.

Congress to send critics to jail?

We also have some policy on external sources I hope you'll take time to review. Please use this format: [.ex]external material[./ex] (no periods in the brackets)

it will look like this

Also please do not copy external material in its entirety; pick a few paragraphs and include a link to the whole thing.

Last but not least, in fact probably the most important thing: Above Politics thrives on the knowledge, insight, and curiousity of its members. Your own original commentary on the external information you post is what makes the site, so please include. A good rule of thumb, though not written in stone to my knowledge, is to have as much original content as external, if not more.

ATS Etiquette

No harm done or anything; these are just a few things that we ask in order to respect other people's intellectual property and maintain a the quality of Above Politics and ATS. If you have any questions, the Board Questions and Business forum and Freshman forum are good places to ask, or you're welcome to U2U me
