Are All Secret Societies Connected?

Hello all and please firstly accpet an appology for my ignorance on this subject, so some of the questions will same basic and very lame to say the least but its something that i havent been able to understand, and wanted to ask the members who are well informed on this subject, the following questions?

Are all secret societies connected in some way, from the simple(although not all secret) Breakfast clubs to Freemasonary?

Are the Kinghts Templar still active today?
Is there an off-shoot?

How far are the vatican involved with the death of Gods Banker i think his name was Roberto Calvi, found hanging under Blackfriars Bridge in London with "certain Freemasonary symbols etc (i think) in his pockets?

In the De Vinci code through the eyes of the producers/writers the bloodline of christ still active through Sophie?
Also it shows in the film, a newish pyramid type building in Paris and this is the bit i cant get my head round are they sugesting that the Body of Mary is buried under this pyramid?
That may sound really stupid but ive watched this film so many times but i just cant work it out...i know bit thick hahaha?

For anyone that has seen the film how much of it do you feel is fantasy and how much is fact?

I haven't watched the Devinci code with a whole lot of attention, maybe its worth another look.

After seeing the inside of an old Catholic Church the other day (about 500 years old) that had black and white floors and a Maltese cross on the wall I was thinking possibly the Masons and the Catholics or in the same sack race. I imagine all secret societys are closely related, I don't believe that another opposing society would be permitted.

Generally, I've heard it accepted that Masonic halls have checkerboard floors, a symbolism that they borrowed from the Knights Templar.

The Knights were a Christian order. It is not unreasonable to think that some of their symbolism has lasted within the church.

If both are true, then it is trivial to see that it's not that the Masons and Christians are in bed with each other, but rather that their symbolism has a common root.

At one time, Christianity was the only accepted way to go in some places. Anything else was considered a grave sin and immoral. Masonry, it is suggested, first took root in one such country... and so such faith was a prerequisite for membership. Given that, it's easy to understand why so many Masonic symbols and ritual bits have Christian overtones.

That was a lot of questions, to answer a few of them: no, not all secret societies are connected--many have differeent methods* For ex, freemasonry seeks to better its members through application of morals, and is primarily a rationalistic fellowship, while the Rosicuceans seek to better their members through application of spiritual practises, and are primarily mystical, while the OTO seeks to better its members through theourgy, and is primarily magical, while the Church of Satan seeks to better its members through he application of self empowerment, and is primarily hedonic*

As for the Da Vinci code, Brown probably got the name of Sophie from the gnostic Sophia, or the "Mother Essence" of the Demiurge, creater of this world--Sophia is the femine counterpart of God, one of the emanations from the Ain Soph* The "line of Christ" idea is a old one but Brown more or less stloe his version from the writers of the book "Holy Blood Holy Grail"

If they are so secret, it would only make sense that they could remain secret to other secret societies.
