This beats all- seems as if we are going to have to disguise ourselves when we go to buy a razor, unless you want your picture taken...How Bizzare-

They are TAKING YOUR PHOTO... I could care less about marketing demographic data collection, etc., but a photo of me, showing what I buy? What's next, photos of people who buy porn? This is the problem with it...it sets a dangerous precedent for the violation of basic freedoms.

Personally, this idea will go over like a lead balloon, and Gillette will scrap it....

I think we should all visit the local Walmart or whatever. Go right to the Gillette Razor section. Fill up an entire cart with everything from the useless Gillette Sensor (which worked just fine IMO) up through the New Mach 3 Mega Turbo Performance Extravaganza or whatever the hell it is. Then walk that card load of Razors to the back corner of the store and leave it there.

If they even try and give you crap about anything. Tell them you have an incredibly hairy back and butt and have arranged a support group for hairy people and tonight is your group shaving festival. That or tell them to mind their OWN FREAKIN' BUSINESS!!!!

It's semi productive, requires little effort, it's legal, and should result in some personal gratification as well. Every little bit counts ya know!

Hypercom acquired JTS ChequeOut Solutions back in 1999. www.hypercom.com... The analytics behind JTS was, and still is, the most amazing piece of consumer analysis software in the world. Nearly every supermarket and drugstore chain (from mid-sized regional, on up to national) subscribes to this check-out analysis software as part of the shopper-discount card programs. Over the past 12 years, the database has been tracking national sales patterns for individuals in all stores. After tracking just $300 in drugstore or $750 in grocery store sales, the software can build an amazingly accurate profile of you... from likely job, to family size, hobbies, and a host of demographic and psycho-graphic assumptions which have an accuracy rate of nearly 90%. Privacy is gone.

Why would people wont to create more work for others, and the fact that you would get gratification from that isnt a good thing.

So what, Supermarket purchase data is relativley useless on the individual level. it is the agragate of the 1,000,000 shoppers like you that has value.

That's fine, they can track what I buy, but they don't need my frickin' photo...

I'd love to see my profile sometime, hehe....that's got to be messed up, for my grocery patterns are pretty difficult to predict I'd imagine....

Though, I'd bet it would be far more accurate then I'd wager....

If people are afraid of their picture being taken, you might want to avoid pretty much every store that has an in-store security system, CCTV, movement capture cameras, etc.

So now you are getting snapped based on what you pick up, not just on simply walking into the store.

Take your pick...

Ok, I'm sorry to rock the boat Fitz with my unconventional ideas. I was hoping that the stuff about Hairy Backs and Group shaving festivals would have been possible clues pointing to the fact that the post included some lighthearted humor mixed in there. I'll try and avoid such silly activities in future posts. That or include the standard "Humor or Non-Humor" catagory heading.

This should also be taken as HUMOR, fyi.
