not any more.

singers don't always make a whole heap of money. Most singers don't have prolonged success so they make deals to get their music out there. three record deals that pay some money but not a whole lot. Early on, musicians make their money on the road. once they establish themselves they get larger chunks of money from record sales, songwriting (if they even write their own music) and publishing.

Female porn stars make much more than male porn stars.

Female models usually get paid more than male models.

I don't see how teachers would make more money than males. Most systems would be based on an entry salary with it increasing in increments through seniority. I don't think gender would have much to do with it.

Modeling would definitely be one where females make much more money. Super model status is something that comes with a hefty price tag and a serious amount of fame. Male super models? Not as much recognition, it seems.

Care Givers? Most people would be more comfortable in the care of a woman, which would dictate into higher wages.

I would think there are still some professions that are dominated by the male gender, but for the most part, I would think pays would be dictated by merit and ability. If a female in the same position is far more experienced and more talented, are we to believe that an inexperienced, inferior male would be given the role?

(Insertion of Cheese)This is the 21st century(/Cheese)

I'm sure some of us would disagree with that, but through my experiences, gender plays a very small role in the determining of wages and employment.

interesting item to add to that. I have a friend who is a part owner of a few pre-k schools in and around the NYC area. He said that the insurance is something like 5 times higher if you have one man on the payroll. Doesn't have to be a teacher either. Just having a man there raises the insurance rates

Very interesting C.

I fail to see the reasoning behind it. Women are said to be so passive-aggressive, but when we "men" read stuff like that, rarely do we actually feel compelled to do anything about it.

it is directly related to the higher risk of pedophilia and accusations of improper behavior between men and women. My daughter goes to a school that has one man working as a teaching assistant. He replaced another young man who held the same job, in the same class. The kids in this class are all around one and a half. I never noticed the lack of men until I was told about the insurance issues.
