A senior bush adviser has warned a war with Iran could happen within two years.

A WAR against Iran could be launched within the next two years, a senior adviser to George Bush warned last night.

CIA specialist on Iran Reuel Marc Gerecht said there had been a "tidal shift" of opinion towards military action, especially in Israel.

He added: "I think it has now become highly likely the Israelis will launch a strike before the end of George Bush's presidency."

An Israeli attack before the US election in November 2008 risks sparking a military explosion in the Middle East.

It is likely to be backed up by American and possibly British air support from Iraq.

Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad could retaliate by sending the Republican Guard across the border with Iraq to attack British forces.

Experts warned there would be a massive surge in Iranianbacked suicide attacks.

The UN has voted unanimously to impose sanctions against Iran over its failure to halt its nuclear programme.

Sounds to me the Bush Administration and Olmert have got their ducks in a row for what they want next. Just makes me wonder which area of the globe they will "sacrifice" next?

Iran is making their position fairly clear, I'm guessing, in response to the "there will be a war in Iran within two years...

After countless declarations of peaceful intentions of nuclear plan, Iran's chief nuclear envoy confirms fears by saying if county is threatened, situation may change

Iran's chief nuclear envoy Ali Larijani said on Friday that Iran is committed to the peaceful use of nuclear technology but warned the situation could change if his country is threatened.

I'm sure it's only a matter of time before Iran is attacked.

I know it's been an ongoing thing of Iran spouting off and everyone else throwing their two cents into the pot, but it seems they made it abundantly clear of two things...

1) Iran will be attacked.
2) Iran will retaliate.

Correct me If I'm wrong but your source says Israel will kick it off in Iran.....AND while I agree the US (and us Brits) will back them, that doesn't really make them our next target ...more just a turn in events wouldn't you agree???

That is correct, and I agree Iran could/would/should be considered simply a turn of events, however... looking as to where the "coalition" is directing their forces, I believe calling Iran the "next target" would also be a correct assumption. The US, Brits, UN, and whomever else have duly noted Iran as a significant source of attention. Krazy Kim has kinda been put off to the back burner, Somalia isn't hitting mainstream news, India's doing just fine, Egypt isn't raising a ruckus, no one is discussing the rise of the North American Union, etc.... Iran simply has been spotted as "the next target" not by media, nor myself, but by an educated guess.

On a side note, we all know what happens when you, or I, assume.

I would personally hate to see the war shift into Iran for the reasons the Bush Administration and Olmert share. Like Iraq, the main forces behind the attacks are, or will, base their efforts on lies... or exaggerations. I support the troops, but I do not support the war.
