Great Bowl Games That Took Place This Week.

In a 41 - 14 rout of the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl last night, LSU wins another BCS Bowl Game in dominating fashion. Like Monday's Rose Bowl Game between USC and Michigan, the game was a close one until the second half. That is when the LSU offense was helped to those extra twenty points by two interceptions thrown by Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn. The Tigers of LSU proved again last night that if it is a close game with them, they can still run away with it scoring wise.

Another great game was the eighteen point comeback that the Mountaineers of West Virginia overcame in the second half to beat Georgia Tech in the Gator Bowl also on Monday. The play of the game came from WVU in the third quarter of Monday's contest in Jacksonville. That is when WVU sophomore quarterback Pat White hurled a touchdown pass to Tito Gonzales. This play was deemed the 'Sleeper Play' by the CBS commentators who were covering the game. It worked to perfection, WVU beat Georgia Tech 38 - 35 after a missed field goal by Georgia Tech.

If anything tops the Boise/Oklahoma game, I will be very surprised. With any luck we will see a few barn burners though.

My HD is getting hooked up tomorrow. Pumped for it. Perfect time of the year. NHL is in full swing, NCAA Bowl Games, NFL Playoffs, NBA, World Junior's, need I say more?

Texas Tech/Minnesota.... I think it was the Insight Bowl.... Texas Tech was behind 38-14 with about 5:00 left in the 3rd quarter.. Texas Tech won it.. 44-41 in overtime!! Great game..

What makes the Boise State game seem better is becuase where one of the players proposed to his girlfriend cheerleader on the sidelines after the biggest game and victory in the history of Boise State Division 1-A football. I don't know about you guys, but that has to be a great moment in sports history.

That was cool. But 22 points in 86 seconds contributed to the greatness of the game. As did the hook & ladder play, and the perfectly executed Statue Of Liberty play on a 2 point conversion! To win it!! In OVERTIME!!!

Take all of these into consideration, along with the whole David vs. Goliath theme to Boise St. vs. Oklahoma. Combined, it makes this a great game.

Boise State made me do a little dance when they won.
Great game,awesome ending.
And a slap in the face to the BCS.

Heres to a great Bowl Season

I can't agree with you more on that idea BF, the BCS is now obsolete. Ever since Auburn got screwed back in 2004, that got me thinking of an NFL style, or even a Division II style, college playoffs. That is, the top twelve teams who would be eligible for a BCS bowl game would be entered in the playoffs. Matchups would be even numbered ranked teams versus odd numbered ranked teams. Of course, the games would most certainly have to be played at a neutral site. That way you wouldn't have the "Our school is better thans yours" bantering.

Here's the problem with establishing a playoff system in College Football. The dean's, the officials, and the officials who run each conference do not want a playoff system. The BCS ranksing are done by computer which in the first four to five years of the BCS wasn't a bad idea because you had the clear champions or the upset in the making. Like with Ohio State beating the University of Miami four years ago or Texas embarrassing USC last year. So if you were to get rid of the computer rankings, it could possibly lead to an even bigger mess.

It just blow my mind as to how many people still believe that the BCS is a feasible system to determine a National Champion. There was only one proven way to determine who the true champions were. That is go back to the old system where the A.P. Poll and the U.S.A. Today Top 25 Coaches Poll determined who got to play in the National Title Game. I will admit there were some controversy over the use of those two polls, but it beats a computer poll any day of the week.
