I expect this have been brought up a number of times...
But along with my question I am posting an experience my parents have told me a lot of times:

Do animals pick up things we humans don't? On a spiritual level, or sound level that is.

The experience my parents have told me about is this:

I don't know how long ago it happened, but it was before I was born..
The experience happened in a certain house. They would be doing normal everyday things, when the dogs would start barking madly at something in a corner.

There was nothing in the corner, but the dogs went mad.
Plus at certain times in the day, the dogs would refuse to go into the kitchen - which was at the back of the house.

Another experience was that at night, the dogs slept in the same room as my parents - and at times in the middle of the night the dogs would get up, their neck hairs on end, and just bark, growl, etc towards the corner.

After years of this... My parents found out that underneath the house was an ancient burial ground - apprently it was used to bury 'witches' hundreds of years ago.

Freaky, lol. Also my current dog has really really good hearing, my mu was winding up one of her watches, and the dog would stand there and growl at it. Becuase we assume she could hear it.

So do animals pick up things we don't?
And if they do... Does that mean there is a lot of things going around that we don't ever experience? Maybe things happening on another spiritual level? Is this a theory about sprits? That they are on this level?

Dogs and other animals surely pick stuff we don't. Dogs can hear a higher frequency than we can. By using one of those dog whistles, that is evident. Humans can hear untill 20000hz (20 year olds that is... it gets worse as you get older)

Some animals can see different wavelengths of color dan we do.

As for on a spiritual level. It think they do sense something that isn't there on the physical level.

And also, IMO if something is of a high enough vibrational frequency, it can pass through you without you even knowing it. So I would agree.

Hyper sensitive. Animals have "different" talents than us human beings. Spiritual?...hrmmm...nothing that I know of says they don't have a soul and can or cannot see spirits and interact. Animals are of the earth...this is their place...no where else. But...then again..I hope there is a place for them in heaven....they deserve it.

What do you mean different wave lengths of colour?
I was always told that Dogs, among with other animals only see in black and white?

Why don't read my whole post instead debating one sentence of it? Earth meaning...they were put here by God...their place would be here for us so we can eat them and equal out the biosphere so we may exist. No where else...means that from what I know...they are not promised a place a heaven...so that also may mean that they do go the heaven...or may not..that is all. I hope they do..that is my faith.

Taking over here...not that any dog has ever told me so...but through studies...they are colorblind...no reds or greens mostly. I painted a "dog" room in blue for a male dog we used to have...cause it's not green or red. Also read in studies that they can see yellow...and very well.

Dogs, see only in black & white. I've read about animals than can see infrared. Can't remember where I've read it though. Think it was an encyclopedia.

Nice!!! Can you point me out to where you've read that. It has to do with the build of the eye's retina anyway.

I did read your whole post xenongod. And I was suspecting that it would be related to your faith. I disagree anyway. Because if we found life on Mars, Europa and/or Asteroids (although there's a chance that they would be only bacteria and not animals). It would seriously undermine your claim that God put them only on Earth. There's also the theory that the Earth could've been seeded by a comet or a chunk of Mars rock, billions of years ago.

The original thread is about all animals..but for dogs...here ya go:

Compared to people, dogs have...
Better motion vision
Better night vision
Less developed color vision
Less developed close-up vision
Terrific vision makes successful hunters
Dogs don't see the same way humans do.

Dogs have a wider field of view and a better ability to detect motion at the horizon. A dog can recognize moving objects nearly half a mile (1 km) away. But if those objects remain still, the dog may not notice them. This is very helpful in hunting fast moving prey.

Dogs don't see color very well. The ability to see color depends on the number and type of color-sensitive cells -- called cones -- in the eye. The human eye has more cones, and more kinds of cones, than a dog's eye does. So we can perceive more colors than a dog can. But dogs' eyes outdo ours when it comes to rods. Rods are cells that help dogs (and us) see in dim light. Dogs may not see color very well, but they can see in the dark much better than we can.

There's another reason dogs see much better at night than humans. Like many other mammals, the dog has a mirror-like tissue in its eyes. This tissue enhances night vision by reflecting incoming light back through the retina. This re-stimulates the eyes' light-sensing cells and boosts their signal to the brain. If your flashlight catches Fido's eyes at night, you'll see this reflected light gleaming back at you as "eyeshine."

People...let's try to stay on track with what the original thread author intended...OKAY?

But of course... But you inadvertedly brought up the whole thing.

O.k. Dogs's retinae are dominated by rods. That's the reason they see mostly black & white. Because rods are sensitive to shades of light and not color. And I already explained about the hearing.

Thank you "TheBandit795" and "xenongod"...

Even though that wasn't really the subject of the thread, you have shed light on the facts about Dogs, and other animals eyesight. Something that has mystyfied me for years. Which was how do we know they can only see black and white? Lol.

Thanks again...

Encyclopedia Wikipedia.

"Some animals, such as cats and some fish, use infrared vision to see at night."

en.wikipedia.org...

I'd dare say that except for our brain, there's always an animal that has some part of their anatomy that is much more developed than that of ours. And seeing that we very often make new discoveries about what animals can do and sense, there is a a big chance that they indeed can see other things that we perhaps haven't even detected with any of our machinery and other equipment.

Right...so I take it you believe in evolution then. Another topic to debate sometime...and believe me...evolution/creation walk hand in hand. Do you see giraffes running around on Mars...no...bacteria...no. There needs to be an equalibrium in "nature" for living things to exist. Our own earth contains the PERFECT planned system..with all that crawls...walks...and slithers upon the ground...and even flies in the air...etc...it keeps the biosphere...meaning all living things..including trees and plants even....equal out so everything can exist...and live. Without one...there would be none. Here's a strange new topic I should start....do plants have souls and can see spirits?...ask one.

Hey..I said the same thing. Members of this form tend to get off track...just to find something to prove or disprove in what someone else says. But then again...a little information never hurts. Always some disgruntled forum watcher who is out to get someone...only due because of their "faith". Maybe more moderation is in order...eh?

Was I trying to prove or disprove what you were saying?
Am I a disgruntled forum watcher who is out to get someone only because of their faith? Don't assume and don't generalise please.

First of all, there has been numerous and different kinds of evidence of Evolution (as some members have posted in that evolution thread). I have yet to find evidence for creationism. I have found only indications. And yet I also believe that there is a creator and that it has formed the universe by the ways that science is discovering and have been discovering over the past few centuries. Once again xenongod, do not assume what I think and what I believe in.

Anyway, back to the topic.
