I wonder if anyone else has expereince this, or just something random that I have. I haven't really thought about it up until recently, as in, I have conciuosly thought "oh hang on, is this normal?".

Since I was young, whenever someone near me that I know is concentrating on something, or borrowing an objet of mine, I get sort of a goose pimples sensation, like chills, but much more intense and I have to say, extremely pleasurable. It's mainly focused on the base of my neck and around the crown of my head.

I can remember when I was in school, if somoene wanted to borrow my eraser or ruler, i'd get the sensations, or chatting to a work colleague who was desbribing a process to me, i'd get the sensations. Has anyone else expereinced this or any suggestions as to what it could be?

In no way does it bother me, or i'm adverse to it, it's just one of those perculiarities that i'd like some opinions on.

Happy New Year to all!

It's possible that the physical sensations are caused when your mind links with that of someone else.

Something similar may occur to others (or most) but possibly not as intensely as you experience, as so escapes their notice.

I believe we're all connected anyway, to greater or lesser degrees. You may just be particularly sensitive, either to your own physical responses or to others generally (their mental workings, state of mind, etc).

Do you experience physical responses to others' negative thoughts or emotions? Do you feel you have strongly developed 'intuition' -- do you sometimes know or sense beforehand what people are going to say, or that someone is going to contact you, etc?

I woudln't say I get responses to negative emotions, but to be honest I haven't experienced a lot of negativity throughout my life, which I'm quite thankful for, however, I would say I have a heightened intuition. In the past i've been able to know when friends have a serious problem they're hiding, and describe what it is, when they haven't told me, but i've always put that down to knowing my friends well and being an empathic person. I wouldn't really go anywhere near saying I have a psychic ability, because to be honest, I don't think I do, just that i know my friends and can read situations and can analyse them.

Hmmm.

I get the same thing. It seems to happen when there is a presence of spirits.

This is just an update to my first post in this thread. I've since been able to observe it a lot more when it occurs. It's strange that depending on the location of where the person is in relation to me, is where on my head I get the feeling. It's sort of like I get it at the base of my neck and spread to a different area. If they're behind me, then I feel it on the back of my head and neck. If they're too my right, I feel it at the base of my neck and also on the right.

Also I'm not so sure it's concentrating, but being focused on one thing that they are not fully aware of other things. So if it is some kind of connection, it would make sense that it drops their guard. I don't want to make it sound like that but it's sort of the explaination i'm leaning too.

Surely there's others out there that have experienced this?

Considering that the situations in which that happens to you are quite specific and limited in range - and based on my own perceptions of similar phenomena - I would tend to think that it actually has psychological origins. (But only you can determine what they are, certainly at this point.)

I know that to some visitors of this website this would sound "dismissing", a letdown in any case - as if psychological reasons were somehow an inferior category...

I hope you don't think so.

And it doesn't preclude a heightened sense of empathy anyway.
I have little doubt that you are extraordinarily receptive to the "vibrations" of other people resulting from one-on-one interaction.

It's a great tool!
I hope you make good use of it.

It's a very sound and plausible explanation.

By their "letting their guard drop", you gain access to the core behind their "social" vibrational sphere, if you know what I mean.

I think I have experienced this before. And it doesn't seem to last that long but seems to happen based on certain conditions. For me though, when it does happen it seems to be in pulses... or more like waves of it. I'll have to pay more attention to it the next time it happens but I recall goosebumps.

But I do know that is a very very very relaxing sensation.

Yes Lighthead, It does happen in pulses. The longer it goes on for, the more intense it is, but when it does, it ends up in a focal point closer to top of my crown. However, usually never lasts long enough for that to happen, and yes it is extremely relaxing!
