Directed by Robert Greenwald
Runtime 75 minutes
Moderately Graphic (Abu Ghraib prison photos)

This is a video that every American should watch about the War in Iraq. This isn't just another anti-war video. The video goes into the CACI contractors who interrogated prisoners at Abu Ghraib and were not held accountable while the soldiers in the infamous photos were put on trial.

video.google.com...

Hear from some of the civilian contractors themselves and their families who work for the companies that are profiting from the War in Iraq. They claim that their loved ones went over to Iraq with good intentions of rebuilding Iraq and they were killed because the companies were not protecting them well enough.

Then also hear from troops who train contractors to do their job and put themselves out of work, while the contractor earns several times what our troops are being paid to do the same job.

Whether you support the war or not, the privatization of this war is not only a waste of taxpayers dollars, but it is anything but supporting our soldiers that are fighting over there.

The companies mentioned are:
Blackwater
Titan
CACI
Haliburton/KBR

If your wondering what was being done about the war profiteering, there has been legislation to make profiteers accountable, but up till now the effort has been squashed. Maybe with the new congress, something will get done.

Several people were my husband works at including my husband were asked if they wanted to go to Iraq to work.

Many of them took the offer, how can they let it go when the pay was ridiculously good for only 6 t 1 year work they could make as much a half million dollars.

They were told that they would be protected by private security but as it is the job was highly dangerous and that was the risk.

The problem in Iraq is that all the awarded contracts were non bid contracts, the unemployed Iraqis and out of work Iraqi companies were not even ask if they wanted to do the job.

One other mistake in the so call winning harts and minds of the people of that nation.

It looks to me like a big pay out to corporate American over the people in the nation that our administration brought nothing than sorrow.

Then people can not understand why the hostilities agings US that only preach to bring prosperity to that nation.

Well how hostile I will feel if I know that is billions of American dollars to be invested in the reconstruction of my nation but foreigners are the ones benefiting from it.

Plus a lot of that money went missing anyway.

Yes Iraq is for sell and now finally the moment of truth is here Bush is gong to deliver to corporate oil Bros what our soldiers has spilled their blood for it and has cause the death of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi People.

The Iraqi oil.

This what it was all about.

I watched this video for the first time today and it's just shocking the level of abuse and corruption it emphasizes. Burn a $75,000 truck simply because it is missing a part or has a flat tire, claim it as a loss and order a new one at the cost of the taxpayer? And I remember the outrage over the contaminated water that the troops showered with, although, I am unsure if the drinking water was contaminated as well.

I think what bothered me the most is having individuals contracted to perform the same jobs as our troops, but with five times the pay (or more, who knows). And then house these same individuals in luxurious hotels as well as pay them even while they are jet skiing. I've never been to Iraq, so some of the more peaceful and calm images (jet skiing) in the video were at first unbelievable, or at least surprising, to me.

It seems the only purpose of the private contractors in Iraq is to bankrupt America, both financially and morally.

With Blackwater being in the news lately, I thought I would add some links some relevant articles to this thread.

Here is an article on the progress of the families law suit against BW that claims BW impeded the investigation of the workers that were killed and their bodies dragged through town.

I don't know where to start...

Well I would have to say, God Bless our troops and the common average Americans who went over their to help rebuild, believing the company they worked for would care about them and the soldiers, and the Iraqis for that matter more then money.

I don't know whats worse, the companies obsession with greed, our government refusing to be accountable, the media not screaming this to the American people, or simply the American people not marching to Washington DC to demand the safety and health of our people over the profit of a few people in power.

Tell your friends, pay attention to who is up for election, support the organizations that speak up about these things, lets not just ignore this again.

We need to close Blackwater, hold the CEO's of the companies stealing from America accountable, and remove the people that allowed it from power. And most of all, we need to change the policies of America that have changed our great country and disgraced us, its people, for not stopping these repeated actions of greed, that are causing lost lives and making it hard to remember what it was to feel the dignity of being an American.

If we would have hired Iraq's that would of helped their country stabalize tremendously, instead we round them up and torture them, no more, how can we allow this.

How much longer can we allow this to continue.

Just a reminder for people who may have forgotten who profited from the post-9/11 wars.
