The Popular Resistance Committees said that weapons transferred by Egypt to Palestinian President Mohmoud Abbas Fatah will reach operatives who will use them against Israel. With Israeli consent Egypt transferred two thousand rifles and twenty-thousand magazines to Fatah by way of the Gaza Egypt border. This was done in an attemp to counter Hamas armament drive.

Israel has approved transfer of large amount of weaponry by Egypt to Palestinian Fatah security forces in the Gaza Strip to support President Mahmoud Abbas, the Jerusalem Post reported on Thursday.

The shipment, including 2,000 automatic rifles, 20,000 ammunition clips and 2 million bullets, was transferred to Palestinian security forces loyal to Abbas' Fatah movement, the report said.

The arms and ammunition were transferred from Egypt to Israel through the Kerem Shalom crossing in coordination with the Israel Defense Forces and governmental authorization.

I was not really to sure what to make of this at first. Israel actually allowing weapons shipments through its borders is not something that I was aware happened to often. They are supposed to go to Fatah so the question becomes will they make it to Fatah or will Hamas end up getting them? The article says that Hamas will be removed from the guard receiving the weapons, although be it that will not remove them from the society where the weapons are going.

Hear is part of another reference that I found a little amusing.

Nabil Abu Rdeneh, a spokesman for Abbas, issued a statement denying any arms deal. However, at midday Thursday, witnesses saw a truck belonging to the pro-Fatah National Security force carrying what appeared to be sealed boxes of weapons.

When the truck attempted to make a quick detour, one box fell onto the ground, scattering a pile of automatic guns on the road, the witnesses said. Security men in the truck quickly got out and collected the weapons.

Israel approved the transfer of 2,000 automatic rifles, 20,000 ammunition clips and 2 million bullets on Wednesday, Israeli officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the shipment had not been officially confirmed by Israel, the Palestinians or Egypt.

Throwing gasoline on a fire= the season to give them what they all seem to want, more war.

I guess we now know what that secret meeting was about in October between Ehud Olmert, Fouad Siniora, Prince Bandar bin Sultan and Egyptian political adviser Osama el-Baz s in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. I suspect this will blow up into a renewal of the Lebanese conflict, spread to include Syria and leading to the big prize of war with Iran.

Grenades are now great stocking stuffers...

Regenmacher,
I do fear you may be right with your statement. But believe it or not, I still do truly have hope that this will find an end with out everyone getting killed.
