Now you might not just worry about GMO foods, you better be on watch as well... the Clones are coming.

Washington Post
The Post's Rick Weiss reported Monday that the Food and Drug Administration is expected to vouch this week for the quality of meat and dairy products from cloned animals and their offspring. So far, ranchers and breeders have voluntarily kept food from such animals off of Americans' dining room tables. That will probably change soon.

A recent poll by the Pew Initiative on Food and Biotechnology indicates that a majority of Americans get queasy at the thought of clonal animal products lining supermarket shelves. But to its credit, the FDA stuck to the science -- the great bulk of which supports its reported conclusion.

In a study set to be published in January, scientists at the Agriculture Department's Meat Animal Research Center raised over 400 animals -- more than half of them offspring of clones -- in identical conditions. An independent lab scrutinized more than 14,000 characteristics of the animals' meat composition and health, and only one animal returned results considered abnormal. This mirrors the findings of other studies.

That's how science is conducted.

They just leave this 1 case out of 14,000 to be abnormal, so we can see they actually did conduct an objective research. But what kind of abnormality did number 14,000 show? This is not an article to discuss pathalogical findings, but merely to get you prepered for, if not eating, then facing designer meat.

But how will you know what is what, and what is not?

Do you consider risks of health eating designer foods, GMO, cloned?

I dont think cloned meat would become a problem as a clone by definition is an exact copy of a subject, If the subject was suitable for human consumption then by definition the clone will be aswell. The problems start when the subjects DNA is altered in order the create a geneticaly modified copy of the original subject, in this case the change in DNA can create subtle differences that may not be immediatly noticable and could cause problems many decades in the future.

What's the purpose of cloning meat? Most Americans eat 100x too much of meat anyway...
I think America also has the most GMO crops in the world, as well as the most prevelant use of High Fructose Corn Syrup, Cotten Seed Oil, Hydrogenated Oils, Trans Fat, etc.

Wouldn't it make more sense to clone organs for peop... oh wait, that was denied, thanks GW...

...the Food and Drug Administration is expected to vouch this week for the quality of meat and dairy products from cloned animals...

???

The quality of Meat and Dairy on the human digestive system is poor anyhow, cloning will just make it worse!

I'll never understand us Amercians....

Generaly thats what Moderators do. When you point out duplicate threads they close the others and forward everyones attention to which ever thread was posted first. You should be getting alot of traffic in here soon.

Great Thread by the way!!! I'm looking forward to Clone burgers at McDonalds, and KFC Clone Pac wing buckets. I envision a world where all fast food meat is grown in sheets in a tray and sliced in perfect squares. No bones about it... cloned meat is in our future.

Though not as dubious with possible hidden genetic kickbacks as GMOs, it is from a logical point sheer madness to chose one speciment to become shelf standard for generations to come.

Everything is evolution from economics to politics, which whole purpose is to contain the disciplines in question within chosen boundaries. Same view is applied on biology these days.

Everything is moving, but as you can control business you can't control life, because you can't chose its path (as you can with money). You can for reasons of destiny as favoured by you, inflict restrictions on it and I think that's your purpose.

From a sound -and oughta be common- judgement, it can never be all right to eat something that's like frozen in time. Life is an interaction in real time among any components present. Like you are what you eat, you become today by eating today. Not something for commercial reason made a standard.

But we have to face it, there won't be any marking of the cloned goods when it's lying there in the cold counter together with all the other steaks, ribs and loins.

So, what'll you do? ..become a vegetarian? Seeds have been cloned for years.

Closing because topic already exists.

In future, it is not necessary to continue to bring duplicate threads to attention in a topic and discuss them. Just drop us a message through the Suggestion box or U2U a mod.

This particular thread has become so derailed by members that others are better left standing.

Continue discussion here.
