Now when it comes to global economics i confess my ignorance. I can see local cause and effect but as a global effect what would happen if the USA's economy collapsed? I have heard a lot of talk about it, about the USA heading towards another great depression.

So could anyone out there explain the major effects it would have? I can see a few myself but i think i may be slightly short sighted, and it would be good to have views from others all over the world.

So basically, what would your predictions be if the economy collapsed tomorrow?

If the US economy collapsed tomorrow, the results would be catastrophic, leading to a world wide depression. The EU, China, Japan, and pretty much every other nation that matters would not allow such a thing to happen, so you do should not lose sleep over it. What you are seeing is the US becoming less important in the world. The US is not going to plummet rapidly for the above mentioned reasons, but rather slowly decline, with corporations and others gradually shifting to relying on other markets, like India and China, rather than the US market.

For example, take an industry like automobiles. If the US economy collapsed, the auto makers would be in bad shape because the US, the land of 2 car families, would no longer buy cars. What is happening today is that more people in China, India, and other emerging economies are buying cars. In several years time, Americans may not be able to buy as many cars as they used to, but this loss will be offset by the increased sales in China, India, etc.

dont worry, this can all be taken care of with the fair tax policy and a constitutional amendmend to abolish draconian tax laws and unleash the US economy and the US industry, it would literally draw all forieng investors to our markets and make the US products and industry competitve again.

I honestly wasn't losing sleep over it, just wondering. The USA is a massive economic force but then again there are lots of people that would like to see it fall (no i'm not one of them).

If you see a chance to take an enemy out would you do it? Ok it would cause world wide problems but as the countries come out of it would a country like china fill the power vacuum? Afterall china has so many natural resources they can sustain themselves pretty well without outside sales.

Or am i wrong?

America is already broke.

It has run out of money.

US is living on borrowed time.

poverty is increasing.

government cannot even afford to pay victims of hurricane katrina.

they are still living in third world condition. some are even begging for food.

federal reserves are empty.

war on terror is making a lot of billionaires. we need to wake up.

white house is borrowing money from the europeans and the world bank.

the rich are robbing whatever wealth remains in the country.

other nations are also ripping the gullible american people.

poor are getting poorer.

jobs are nowhere.

factories and industry is shutting down.

we are coming to a complete standstill.

soon we will have riots on the streets on Chicago, LA and New York.

health care has nearly collapsed. the ill who are poor are left to rot.

US economy is almost dead.
